I just picked this up. Photos don't really pick up the colors.

The effect is supposed to reflect copper that is turning green.

The dark plaque isn't helping with this display. My current plan is to do something with the plaque to help pull the colors. I will be posting my wife's later. It tuned out very nice.

Try an oak plaque with Minwax Provincial stain. You will need something darker than the skull and walls. A golden pecan stained pine on a light colored wall would also be okay I think. And the color would contrast well with skull metal. Don't go any lighter than that or you'll have no contrast with walls. I agree, I'm not wild about the stain they used on that plaque.
