I decided to take a rifle that I built several years ago and re-barrel it with a lighter weight barrel and in a new caliber. I decided to go with a 20 inch proof research .30 caliber barrel and make a .308 Winchester. The former barrel was a 23” Krieger MTU in 6.5 Creedmoor, and that was very heavy. The 6.5 shot extremely well, but was too much to carry around. After finally getting it threaded and chambered this weekend, I got a chance to take it out and get it sighted in and I’m very happy with the results with federal 168 grain match ammo. The photo is three shots at 100 yards. I will definitely try one of these barrels again.
