Zim, SA, Nam, Bots, Canada, Germany, Moz, Tanzania,
To all prospective clients with the above outfitter, hunting in either South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe

BEWARE, the is a short summary of the hunt Sept 2013 in Pafuri Area, Mozambique

Problems with Hunt listed

1] Oral assurance by Mr Juan Pace that we can easily take Lion, Buffalo, 4-5m Croc, Elephant and Sable
2] Area next to Northern Boundary of KNP near Pafuri, multitude of Local Inhabitants along Limpopo River
3] No Game tracks seen during 4 days of tracking and driving in the area- his idea of hunt was to wait by KNP boundary and shoot anything that crosses Limpopo into Hunting area
4] 3 Smallish Pools in Limpopo with Croc, nothing larger than 1.5-2m
5] Hunting camp with insufficient accommodation, only three tents for clients, There were 4 German clients in camp. Tents had to be shared
6] Three PH's to help with Hunt, Mr Mulligan and son Leo, together with Sakkie None of PH's had Rifles to guide clients on Dangerous Game Hunt ( German Clients older than 60y and first time in Africa
7) Hunting Vehicles were inadequate as Mr Sakkie had only a 2x4 Toyota and had to be towed on a few occasions when he was stuck in sand in Limpopo
8) None of the PH's presented us with Hunting Cards to verify legitimacy
9) No Mozambican Fire-arms documentation was supplied by operator, thus we were illegally driving around Mozambique with firearms and were in a precarious legal position if we were stopped by Police or Armed forces.
10) On First Night we were instructed by Mr Juan Pace to camp next to Crooks Corner and await game to cross during late afternoon or early morning. NO bedding supplied except Pep Stores blankets (5) for 5 clients, 2 PH's and 3 camp staff. No cutlery no cups etc, no grid for braaing ( PH used gridded rear end of hunting vehicle ) no coffee, no tent ( Big 5 area )
11) PH suggested we hunt Elephant at night with Maglite and Portable spot light on instruction of Mr Juan Pace

I trust that this gives an account of an outfitter which is damaging to the hunting industry and to PHASA as he is a member. This guy should be struck form the Association and removed form the Hunting Fraternity

For more info regarding this outfitter please contact us

DCH,

Sorry you had such a pathetic hunt. Thanks for giving the rest of us a heads up.

There are a few mentions here and on the WWW that are not very flattering about your outfitter.

Hope your next hunt is much better.

All the best.

That is astounding that Juan Pace is a member of PHASA.

Hi we were clients of Mr Pace on this hunt. Two from SA and an American Friend from NY.

Thank you for posting your hunt report.

Sorry you got "taken". Mr. Pace seems to have a history of failure. Glad to see you are a member here. We have lots of VERY good outfitters here that can be sure that you are well taken care of next time. Yours is a great example of why you have to check and recheck references. Bruce

Sorry for the awful experience, and thanks for the warning.

My point exactly...and didn't we had many dicussions on this forum and other about being a member to PHASA or not...

What company name is the scammer running under now?

Where is he advertising to get clients?

Sorry to hear about your hunt. What animals were on your list for the three of you?

Thanks for the warning.

I don't like bad mouthing competition. In fact, some may remember that - when one of our members posted about his experience with same Outfitter - I asked several questions to try and get a better understanding of the situation at hand - wanting to give the Outfitter the benefit of doubt...

Well you can now add my vote... If you hear the name Juan Pace - no matter what company name he is doing business under... RUN!!!!

yup chris it seems anytime the name Jan Pace comes up, it comes with a warning of a very bad "hunting" experience attached to it!!

There are many, many, many threas and reports written about Juan Pace - BEWARE!!!

Hi All
Re Juan Pace, this is an awefull crook. Sorry Chris that you also had a bad experience, the worst is as I crossed Beit Bridge two weeks ago he was a few days ahead of me on the way to Chiredzie to hunt with Mr Yateman. Thsi guy is bad bad bad news. Stay away!!!

How in the hell does this guy stay in the hunting industry never mind business?
PHASA member, still???
Next you'll tell me he is Zuma's or Malema's 1/2 brother.

In a way it's a pity he's been banned from this forum. Because I'd have loved to see his online response to a number of questions I have for him.

Reading a post like this, just makes my blood boil. We put so much effort in trying to build up the reputation of hunting in Mozambique, people like Mr Pace, just screw it up so badly. You were extremely lucky you weren't caught with your firearms. Clients wanting to hunt in Mozambique, make sure you have all the right paperwork, yellow hunting card with your passport photo on it, separate gun permit. Tags for the animals you are hunting.

I have personally written two emails about this guy and his shenanigans to Adri Kitshoff the CEO of PHASA and NOTHING has been done about it. It is a clear indication that PHASA has no teeth whatsoever and refuses to take action against unscrupulous operators. I ask you...of what value is the PHASA accreditation????!
