Modified CZ550 Stock

My next door neighbor is a woodworker and with some coronavirus downtime we figured we would shorten the front of my CZ 550 (30-06) stock to make it more sporter like and sand / rub in some oil. I think it turned out pretty good.

The stock looks great , an oil finish always looks better in my opinion . Obviously took a few hours of elbow grease . I had a similar job done on my CZ 550 Magnum in .416 Rigby .

I appreciate that! My neighbor actually enjoyed the work to where he asked for another of my CZs to do. The oil is nice and I liked going from black to red recoil pads. That rifle was a gift that I have put some money in over time. I never see myself selling it so I am making it what I want. It has taken all my plains game and lots in the US. I decided not to pull out all the marks in the stock. I like looking at it and remembering its history.

You are fortunate to have a neighbour that has the right talent and is prepared to help you with your rifle stocks , if I had such a neighbour I would definitely abuse the relationship .
I think you were right by not removing the battle scars from the stock , it gives the rifle character .
I can understand not getting rid of a firearm as I get emotionally attached to my firearms and don't easily sell them .
