I understand chambers for the 7x66 evolved away from creating the double venturi on the neck of the brass to the brass retaining factory shape. Can anyone confirm that Mauser 66 barrels for 7x66 are chambered for the brass to retain the factory shape?
Does anyone reload for 7x66?
Are you using original Gehmann brass or 28 Nosler?

I own 4 Mauser 66 in 7x66SE vom Hofe.
The Mauser chambers are according to CIP - no "venturi experiments"... They keep factory shape.

IIRC only K98 weapons made in the early sixties were affected by this design errors.

I use and own some original Gehmann brass, but most of my brass is either Horneber or SHM made.
The old Horneber production equipment has been purchased by Reimer Johannsen, now rebranded to "Geschossmanufaktur". It seems that they plan to continue to produce the Horneber portfolio.

Or you buy at SHM (good brass):

The 28 Nosler brass might not work, bolt face diameter is different.

Favorite powder was Hodgdon H1000 (not longer available in Europe), then changed to IMR 7977 or 8133 with magnum primers.

Thanks @Luederitz, I have a Mauser 66 in 8x68s and I'm looking at getting a 7X66 SEvH barrel to go with it. My biggest concerns are brass and dies. The brass is available, but expensive. The dies, well I'm not there yet :)

My die set is from RCBS.
At least they are able to produce it.

Or Hornady custom die set, should be not too expensive.
