For precision shooting an accurized 1911 45 ACP has been the mainstay for almost a century,
SIG P240 presently holds the record in my country for precision 25 meter pistol (for years). Each national championship, in top 6 scores, at least there are 4 x SIG p240. In top 10, there are at least 7 x SIG p240.
So, I cannot find any reason why of all the gun makers, worldwide, no one had Idea to make again highly accurate single stack, 38 spwc match pistol again.
I beleive that accurized 1911 45acp is from american perspective, and so produced and customized, 1911 had the strongest traditional following.
European makers base their design of 9mm pistols today on cz75 clones, or SIG P210 models, to give few examples:
SIG P210 super target (6'' bbl), Pardini GT9, CZ 75 sport 2 (waffen oschatz), tanfoglio P19 gold match, CZ 75 6.0 (AKAH), etc.
They indeed score medals, but so far, none of them so far to brake the record of sig p240, 32 or 38 spwc.
Note, that Eropean gun makers prefer the accurized type of precision pistol with "male" type of slide, that is inserted within the "female" type of pistol frame. (I hope I described well to understand). So, different type of colt m 1911 frame/slide.
And this came hisotricaly from french MAAS 35, down to military police SIG p210 in 1947 (most accurate service pistol ever), and then copied by cz75, and then followed by many others, and this also being the heart of the sistem of p240. So European approach to design is different.
