Gents,
Do you know about any newer model of match target pistol in caliber 38 special wad cutter?
Older models that I know are: Sig Hammerli P240 (phased out), Smith & Wesson m52 (phased out), and Colt 1911 gold cup national match (phased out).

is ther any new model of match pistol in this revolver caliber today in production?

Most of the centre fire match pistols today use 32 calibre, typically in 32S&W chambering.

Mark-hunter, as you may or may not know, my "game" is Bullseye, i.e. precision one handed shooting at 50 and 25 yards. to the best of my knowledge you mentioned all of the 38 Special caliber pistols made for that purpose.

For precision shooting an accurized 1911 45 ACP has been the mainstay for almost a century, however 9mm accurized pistols are the most accurate handguns available today. Some of the guns built by the Army's AMU will hold a 5/8" ten shot group at 50 yds. when shot from a Ransom Rest.

For precision shooting an accurized 1911 45 ACP has been the mainstay for almost a century,

SIG P240 presently holds the record in my country for precision 25 meter pistol (for years). Each national championship, in top 6 scores, at least there are 4 x SIG p240. In top 10, there are at least 7 x SIG p240.
So, I cannot find any reason why of all the gun makers, worldwide, no one had Idea to make again highly accurate single stack, 38 spwc match pistol again.

I beleive that accurized 1911 45acp is from american perspective, and so produced and customized, 1911 had the strongest traditional following.

European makers base their design of 9mm pistols today on cz75 clones, or SIG P210 models, to give few examples:
SIG P210 super target (6'' bbl), Pardini GT9, CZ 75 sport 2 (waffen oschatz), tanfoglio P19 gold match, CZ 75 6.0 (AKAH), etc.
They indeed score medals, but so far, none of them so far to brake the record of sig p240, 32 or 38 spwc.

Note, that Eropean gun makers prefer the accurized type of precision pistol with "male" type of slide, that is inserted within the "female" type of pistol frame. (I hope I described well to understand). So, different type of colt m 1911 frame/slide.
And this came hisotricaly from french MAAS 35, down to military police SIG p210 in 1947 (most accurate service pistol ever), and then copied by cz75, and then followed by many others, and this also being the heart of the sistem of p240. So European approach to design is different.

I own 4 Walther GSP 22/32(s). Indoors I shot my highest score with one of them i.e. 594 out of a possible 600. Outdoors at 50 yards I always shoot a 45 ACP better. In the States, the National Record for a 2700 was set using a 45 ACP equipped with Iron Sights.

I've cleaned quite a few 50 Yd. targets with an accurized 1911 45 ACP. The best I could ever get with one of my 38(s) was a 98. I have two Model 52(s) and two 38(s) in a 1911 frame.

Based on your collective knowledge and experinece from all the matches, what is the best colt 1911, customized? (most accurate colt 1911 45 acp, i mean)
Which company or workshop, makes them?

And what type of bullet? (any chance for .45 semi wad cutter?)

Mark-hunter, without a doubt the best 45(s) are built by Steve Huff at Accuracy X. He has a lot of stuff posted on You Tube. The pistol I used prior to getting my new ones from Accuracy X was built by a guy named Jerry Bentz. It produced 1 & 3/8" ten shot groups with 200 Gr. Lead Semi Wad Cutters. Unfortunately Jerry is no longer with us. BTW he was the guy responsible for the Bentz reamer now used in many 22(s). Joe Chambers can also build very accurate 45(s). Be prepared to spend in excess of 5K for one of their best models.

Many years ago, Sako made the Triace, a pistol in .22, .32 WC and .38 WC.

Today I don´t know of any company making a .38WC pistol, maybe there is a gunsmith somewhere.

All the serious competitors have gone to the .32 WC.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.
