Ok so I made a post a while back on this rifle but I need some help once more.
I have a 1917 enfield, Winchester made, that was sporter used some time ago into a 458 Winchester magnum. I’ve been thinking about getting a timney trigger for it but I’m not sure if I need the 5 shot or 6 shot model.

I’ve heard people say if the trigger guard was straightened you need the 5 shot and if it has the potbelly you need the 6 shot. My gun does not have the potbelly but I checked to see how many .30-06 the magazine would hold and I could get 6 rounds in it.

If anyone here can help that would be greatly appreciated because I don’t want to gamble on which one is the right one and end up $100 down the hole on something that doesn’t fit.

The Pattern 14 Enfield (in .303 British) had a 5 round magazine capacity.

The Enfield M1917 is basically a Pattern 14 Enfield that has been modified to accept the .30-06 Springfield cartridge. But since the .30-06 Springfield cartridge is smaller than the .303 British, the magazine of the M1917 could hold an extra round.

But despite the 6 round magazine capacity, during the First World War... members of the American Expeditionary Forces were supplied with 5 round stripper clips for loading these rifles. Hence the confusion in regards to the magazine capacity.
