I had a thread going earlier titled possibles pouch which has morphed into more than just the pouch so I thought I would start a thread covering the full set.

Basically, I thought it would be meaningful to create and use my own leather hunting accessories. I like nice leather gear and I know many of you do as well so I hope you enjoy…

And since each handmade piece needs a good backstory this is the one I’m going with… Each item is hand stitch by Sir August Beckwith III or “Pithy” as he is affectionately known by his friends as he is seldom seen without his Willis and Geiger pith helmet. LOL

The helmet is even represented in the his makers mark.

And of course starting backwards Pithy always enjoys a good cocktail in celebration well earned trophy….

Ultra light titanium flask with leather wrap…

Heck yes, very well done!

And to round it all off, one would require a proper hunting belt… I decided I would make one full leather and one leather and canvas. Having a few minutes tonight I started the leather and canvas. The canvas is actually two layers stitch together for increased stiffness and I hope to have it dyed and stitched up in the next few days …

In addition to the front belt buckle, there is an adjuster in the back if you were needing to fit over a heavy coat…

This looks to be great quality, well done. I bet it smells great too, that is half the joy of good leather.
I hope you drank the scotch!

Indeed….the smell of leather is quite wonderful like a fine cigar.…however My drink of choice is often a good rum.…which this evening was a Rum Old fashioned made with Papa’s Pilar aged in Spanish sherry casks. The decanter in the photo is my infinity bottle.

I have an nagging desire to make a leather field bar next as I love a good gin and tonic too.

I really like the combination of leather and canvas, very classy. Melville and Moon and also Els make a leather field bar, maybe you can get a few tips. Mine was made from teak, beautiful but a bit heavy, so leaning towards a M&M leather one.

I have also eyed the M&M design. I believe I like it’s suitcase design better than the Els though theirs looks to be of higher quality. Of course it’s roughly 3 times the price depending on the model.

I would possibly change dimensions of the M&M to accommodate tonic and the Stanley ice bottle is a very nice touch with the Els.

I like the wood cutting board for slicing fresh limes as well. I will likely use the best features of both.

There is nothing classier than a teak chest.…
though definitely not as portable as leather.

Outstanding work! Really like everything.

The question now is of course when will you offer some of these items for sale to all your AH friends?! I suspect you'd find many an interested customer!

Thanks for the kind words. While not my intention, I’d be glad to reproduce an item for anyone who might be interested.

I made some progress on the hunting belt today. Only thing left is to stitch up the leather ends.

Completely adjustable with the back slider so it can be worn over your safari jacket on those chilly mornings.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
