Its been 2 years and a month or two since I received my CZ550 lott and yes it took a bit of time to get used to it.
Did a lot of background work on reloading and bullets to be used energy levels etc.
Topped it with a Apex Predator mount that fits over the V flip up sights and then a Trijicon SRO 1 MOA on top of that.

This Saturday we had a Corporate shoot teams of 4 and trying to get new faces to realize the fun of shooting competitive Big Bore against time. Good practise and most shots we do are offhand with the odd shoot where we use a shooting stick.
Anyway we had 17 teams huge fun and I screwed up on the buffalo range my fault but rectified it on the waterhole range. Hippo, croc and muddy rhino.

Time starts
Load 5 rounds if you can and then shoot hippo broadside at 25 yards not lifesize target brain and heart shot.
Straight ahead a croc brain shot at 25 years golf ball size target
Just right of the croc a Rhino emerges from its mudbath angling away so you had a heart shot behind the leg.
Then you really irritated a hippo bull that is coming for you at 10 yards brain shot.

30.3 seconds for loading 5 rounds and killing all the critters.
Fastest time for the day was 28 seconds but after screwing up on buff range I wanted to make sure on the hits on this range.

The rifle setup just works and cycles like a dream my load used for BASA to keep costs down 500gr Impala solid bullets loaded with Norma203B running just over 2200fps.

If all goes well we will go after buff cow in September my son finiahed his buff cow with my lott but I haven't shot a buff with my lott yet. BTW it works great on lion.

I have no recoil reducer inserted or added extra weight to teh rifle or muzzle break and curretnly it is lighter than my scoped 375 H&H but being used to it now and not worried about the recoil makes it a ot of fun to shoot.

BASA Load groep 50 meter.jpg

This was my first great load 480gr softs at 2300fps.

Since this photo added a Timney trigger barrel band and good oil job on the stock.

Fredrick haw many gn of the 203?

John, my Overall length on the cartridge is long or as long as I can seat them but start at 80gr and see what happens. Or rather 78gr don't know what your case volume is but my rounds are according to QL around 103% filled.

@Frederik , you’ll make a man lust for yet another caliber with a post like that.

But looks can be deceiving I learnt, as you are shooting your .458 Lott offhand the way others would shoot a .223 ! You make it look easy!

Good shooting and well done! Who says large rifles won’t shoot. I love inherently accurate rifles.

Seems, somebody took a video when I shot they missed the part when loading the 5 rounds and the first shot at the hippo.

Time start load 5 rounds if you can CZ mag obviously gobble up 5 rounds in the mag.
Hippo left 2 shots one brain one heart
Croc infront Brain shot 1 shot
Departing rhino 1 shot heart
Charging hippo 1 shot brain

I know there will probarbly be comments of why take the rifle off my shoulder it wirks for me and I';m fast and accurate enough.
Its a magnum action it's long and I never short stroke doing this if a case might be stuck to dirt or extra pressure due to heat I have the extra advantage of more power to lift the bolt and cycle.
You do not have that etxra power from your arm loading when rifle is shouldered.

Biggest circle on the animals target area was 4" is diameter and smallets 2 1/2" on croc brain.

Yeah Frederik is quite good...

We had lots of fun this past weekend with the Corporate Shoot. Let's call it an practice match where you could experiment a bit with your shooting style, either going full throttle or really slow.

I can attest from looking at the video, unfortunately I missed Frederik on this range, that he is a lot faster when in competition style. More like playing the video at 1,5x..

Saturday was good fun yes Stephen and afterwards the beers and drinks made it better.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
