I almost pulled the trigger on this last night. It looks so real. Today I called Browning and they said don't do it! It's a fake site! Freaking criminals!

I get a dangerous site warning when I click on that link. If you followed through on to the site, you may have been hacked.

Thanks for the heads up, but I think it’s very poor practice to share scam links. Plenty of people just start clicking without reading, plus it may give these scammers a more specific target (AH) if they’re savvy enough to find sites sharing their website.

I didn't get any warning. The guy at Browning said he has personally talked to at least 20 people that thought they were buying a gun off that site and lost their money.

I disagree with you. Their scam is to get you to buy a gun on that site. People need to know about it.

Unclear wording on my part, sorry. People definitely need to know via sharing by folks like you. My intent was saying a direct link to the scamming website shouldn’t be used

I’m sure when the website tries to collect payment, it has to be a direct service like Zelle or PayPal friends and family so the money is gone when it’s sent, with no recourse.

That is the key. And there are a bunch of these sites selling powder and bullets as well. PayPal,Zelle, crypto is the key give away that it is a scam.

There is also a fake CZ website. I found it about a week ago when researching 550's.

So, how does one know if they are on a legitimate website or not?
I thought this one was legit! I started to put my credit card in. The only thing that kept me from doing that was there was no phone number. These stealing SOB's are really getting good. For me from now on, I'm going to call and check, or know from friends or google search.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Google search the manufacturer website and go through that to find what you’re looking for. Search for reviews on forums before placing an order. If you search forums such as here, longrangehunting, etc, there’s almost no way you won’t find some post about a legitimate retailer. The last clue is form of payment. If a retailer won’t take credit card, or at least credit card through PayPal, it’s highly likely to be a scam.

The gun I wanted to buy was priced realistically. The too good to be true part was it takes 6 months to a year to get one because they are not available! But you are so right! If it's to good too good to be true, it's probably not!

Your Browning website you visited and almost scammed by is listed as #120 on the lists compiled of bogus sites stealing your money.

Here you go from my other post I listed here on the AH forums a week or more ago.

This guy compiled - over 600 scamming gun sales and ammo supplies websites.

”I know in Feb there was a post more general but a gent on another forum took the time to compile present-moment Apr. 2022 scam gun sales, reloading, equipment ammo etc websites. I was unaware it was THIS bad. I don’t know if accurate but ultimately the consistency in these sites is their replication of their tell-tale malfeasance via certain content, navigation, price, availability, and unprincipled payment means. He explains it.

He’s tried to disseminate his work on some popular sites but states he hasn’t reached many niche places. I discovered the post on the m4carbine.net forums…
I don’t want to link so please just Google the below in quotes to view the top couple forum hits, and read on and decide.

Scroll thru the posts to see the complete compiled Lists - many mimic authentic manufacture or sales websites but w minor differences in suffix etc.

If you Google these terms in quotes you’ll find the forums and can review the numerous lists:

“I went looking for Scam Gun Websites on Purpose - I found 635 of them”

or just “635 scam gun websites

Thank you!!!!!

No problem.

here’s the list with scam browning sites…

another important thing to do is ALWAYS Google the site or seller name with the word ”fraud” or “scam” addded to the search. That website has come up as a scam earlier.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
