Loading data for the .450 Black Powder Express

Most old BPCR guns have liberal throats of a simple, tapered design. Some BPCR guns may have relatively tight or short throats but completely seating a cartridge can become problematic as fouling builds in the throat and starts impeding at the bullet and/or neck area of the cartridge, Problematic for hunting purposes, especially problematic for military rifles. The small size and soft alloy of the 22 rim fire bullet allow this type of breech seating in chambers like the Win 52 example above. The shooter, using “brute force”, simply overcomes the resistance to full chambering in a match 22 rf chamber. Not so with larger BPCR guns, especially most single shots including thrr ed side by side single shot as in the OP. Smokeless powder partially mitigates the fouling issue but not the issue of force and scale. Even slight engraving upon chambering of a larger calibers, especially with a bullet likely to be some alloy harder than pure lead, is problematic, doubly so as fouling builds. Just the nature of the beast, :)

I test fired min works well whit the loads provided in the book of Greame.

My gun is from 1884 and now i want to try the nitro for black load whit jacked bullets.

Any tips?

Greetings Nick

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
