Just got my new VX-R scope mounted up and was shooting it the other day on my 375, nice scope for the money about $450.00 US, very clear and was shooting grapefruit at dusk floating in my pond work well. It may not be a Savaroski but leaves more money to give Louis at Spiral Horns for Plains game when I bag my lion

I already swapped out the mounts to my Talley's, I just used the Leopold QD for a quick photo op, also the Bell & Carlson stock really helped with the recoil, the stock that came with the Remington XCR was too light for my taste, and so the medallion added another pound to the weight. be nice to have more time and shorten the barrell but got to go May 9th to have the hunt I been dreaming about. Now to finish up the Barnes handloads and keep shooting :cool::cool:

Very nice. I use two scopes on my .375, both on Warne QD mounts. A 1-3x20 for thick bush and a 4-12x42 for longer shots on PG. Enjoy your hunt..!

Use nothing but Leupold and Burris optics. You can never go wrong with Leupold in my opinion...

Hey Wayne,
Excellent choice. The VX-R line from Leupold is quality. I highly recommend them.

Best Regards
Marius Goosen

Thanks guys yep I only shoot remington rifles and only use Leupold scope for hunting, but if someone wants to give me a nice double rifle to take to Africa say 416/500 I take it:laughing:

Glad you like yours too. I put one on my .416 about a month ago. I like it though it's FOV is fairly limited in comparison to the VX-6 1-6. But at half the cost....

I just picked up a VX-R with CDS on the weekend. Great scope! I love the red dot. I makes target acquisition that much easier!

Been dialing in the loads and scope is working good, do not care to much for the dot working up loads, covers to much at 100 yard target but it works sweet free handing shooting clays and stuff to get used to the sticks, still so not have my CDS yet but not that much about twisting my scope when I hunting anyway

I just purchased the Remington XCR II in 375 H&H and my wife suprised me with the Nikon Africa 1-4X20 #4 scope. I am looking to use QR rings/bases just like you but do you feel the stock upgrade was a needed investment. The primary purchase was in anticipation of my 1st PG safari and hopefully a Cape Buffalo to follow in a few years. Any other feedback on this setup??

The factory stock was too light jmo, I rather had a Mc Millian but time was short so B & C was quick, takes couple hours to inlet the barrell and work the lug but sandpaper and dowel you will get it easy enough. Added about 1 lb also, Now I am changing out the barrel for a shorter and heavier one more the PH model Remington used to make. In the end I always like to customize my own guns, heck anyone can buy one off the shelf LMAO.

But it shot just fine with the standard stock as mine was also a XCR II, try the Swift A frame bullets, my gun loved them. The rifle did great on LIon, Blue Wildbeast and Zebra. I shot them all with the Swift A Frame Bullet and my first Africa hunt but not my last.

Thanks for the advice! I should be receiveing my gun in the next week or so along with the scope.
For rings did you go with low, med, or high?

I am excited to get some time putting lead down range over the next year to be sure i am confident taking longer PG shots with it since typically i just hunt with my 30-06 and i know this is a diffrent animal.

thanks again!

I just took delivery of my Remington XCR II 375 H&H. I went with the Nikon African 1X4 Scope. I am looking to do QD rings/bases can you let me knwo which specific set up you used. I have not shot mine yet but I am concerned with how light the stock is, how hard was it to install the Bell and Carlson stock??
Thanks for your insights as I am gearing up for PG trip in just over 2 years...

For those of you who own a VX-R, which reticle did you get? I am I have pretty much decided on the VX-R 1.25 - 4 for my 375 H&H and am trying to decide on the reticle. I am leaning towards either the Circle FireDot or the FireDot 4. Looking for your thoughts
Thanks

I had the hog first hated it, sent it back got the circle, they did not have the 4 last year, I like the circle did great on lion xebra and bllue wildebeest on my 375, have fun
