Got this in trade, never heard of the Alaskan by Leupold. Called customer service and was informed they made it for 1 year in 1990. Great scope, Steel tube, 7/8ths. I do not see any marks on it. Duplex , with crystal clear glass. Great for getting the “look” on a vintage hunting rig. Only found one for sale on Guns Int for $595, mine is $425

Also have the Lyman Gun Sight Corp. Alaskan, same condition with rings installed. True vintage beautiful, with T Post sights. Same scope used on the M84 sniper scope mounted on the Garand rifle in WW2-Korea.

Finally i do have the highly sought after M84 Sniper Scope with all mounts and all wind/drop adjustments. T post sights, beautiful condition

Not sure what im going to do with the last two scopes, if interested in these, lets talk.

Thanks for all the PMs, looks like the Alaskan is going to be traded at end of week if not sold.

Just a bit more info to add on scopes

The Lyman Alaskan I have was used for the M82 Sniper Scope. Pre 1945. It was issued as a complete piece to specialized units. Also shipped to select unit armorers to be configured “in the field “ to sniper scope status. Upgrades to the M1 made quick install possible. Canada also ordered and was shipped 1500 of these

The M84 Sniper Scope, one i have, was manuf 1945-through Korean war timeframe. A limited early amount were manufactured by Leupold-Stevens, then contract taken over by Libby-Owens-Ford. Major US glass company that existed from 1900-early 80s. Made glass for Ford Automobile to Coke, to windows in the Empire State Building.

Sorry if boring, but I love the old history of shooting, especially US stuff!

That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
