So for those of you who have done it, what is the true cost of importing a leopard to the USA?

Cost being defined as: The true some of dip/pack, tanning, shipping, CITES, ect + how long the process will take.

More specifically from Zimbabwe to Texas?

I am asking for real world experience and advice from either people on the Africa side and people in the states that have recently gotten their leopards back.

Asking this before giving more thought to booking a hunt because leopard is one of the few trophies I have a desire to import.

I am having a leopard imported as we speak. Due to arrive in New York on the 25th. Glad to give you a total once I get bill from coppersmith.

I was in Namibia a little over a month ago. I am awaiting my Cites Permit for my Leopard. I am awaiting Pro Cargo who is my importer. Cindi Rulon has always done a fantastic job for me.

Thank you sir, and did you use an import broker or handle it yourself? And how was that experience either way?

I applied for the leopard permit myself after the hunt was completed. It took@100 days to get the permit and it is fairly easy, although I did make a mistake and they quickly issued a new permit for me. As for import broker that is coppersmith.

I will be applying for my CITES now that I am home and was successful on my second big cat! I donate to Conservation Force, John Jackson III, so if I need help I just ask him.

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
