NAMIBIA: Leopard Hunt In Namibia

My friends, tomorrow I leave for Africa once again! I’ll be hunting leopard with Immenhof Safaris in Namibia. In the Erongo Region northwest of Omaruru. As always, my partner in crime will be @Jeff505. His mission is to help shoot bait!

We’re flying on Lufthansa. We depart from St. Louis tomorrow afternoon, and land early the next morning in Frankfurt, Germany. Then after a brief 14 hour layover, we’ll fly directly to Windhoek, Namibia. Shawn at Gracy Travel has made all of the arrangements.

I have high hopes for this route. Lufthansa began flying direct from St. Louis to Frankfurt a couple of years ago. This gets us to Namibia with one stop on the same carrier. We will not have to touch our guns or checked bags until we arrive in Namibia.

I plan on sending the hunt report in installments as the Safari unfolds. Technology permitting.

Now, for the long 28 hours to elapse!

Will be doing the same trek on Lufthansa in a few months, so watching this with interest. Unfortunately, I have to do a United flight to Houston and then re-check my bag and rifle.

Did you email Lufthansa about your rifles and ammo? I did, but never got a reply. After a few weeks, I phoned them and they said it was all good. There is a very subtle acknowledgment on the very end of the itinerary.

Safe travels!

I flew United from Newark to Frankfurt then Lufthansa from Frankfort to Joburg. I dont think I needed to recheck bag and rifle, maybe because they’re both star alliance but I can’t remember for sure but may be something to look into

@Doug3006 - Is the goal for Jeff to hunt plains game for himself and use those animal carcasses as bait?
Yes, That is the plan. I will get up early and slay creatures to hopefully attract a big cat. Doug can sleep in, or get a pedicure or maybe do some knitting if he brought his yarn. Just kidding, really looking forward to this trip.

Have a great trip, looking forward to the story and photos.

This is a really great idea. Can’t wait to hear about the hunt.

Yes. Both of us will hunt plains game and a portion of the meat will be used as bait.

There are some neat old churches that are worth seeing. We went into town last year to break up the layover. Get a beer and schnitzel as well.

Good luck!!!

There are showers in the Frankfurt airport that you can access without being in or going through a lounge. They’re a bit hidden, but reasonably priced.

I transited though Frankfurt on my way to Windhoek too, but due to airline problems, I had to reclaim and recheck my rifle. Good thing Gracy had me set up with German paperwork, just in case.

Have safe travels and enjoy your hunt! Leopard is the ultimate chess match and they are one of my favorite animals to hunt. Hope the hunt gods smile on you and Jeff505!

The all important first leg of the journey, Doug with the first beer of the trip.

Safe travels, and good luck with the hunt. Looking forward to seeing pictures and reading your hunt report. (y) I'm about two months away from my second trip to the Eastern Cape, and I'm getting itchy. :ROFLMAO:

Sounds like a great trip and plan. Good luck to you both!

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
