Does anyone have any info or news about this leopard attack at Hunters-Rock. From what I can gather from the papers the PH saved two clients lives by jumping in front of the wounded leopard and the cat was eventually shot dead by one of the trackers. Both clients injured. Is this close to the real events?

Leopard attacks on game farm

August 28, 2011
Johannesburg - A husband and wife guiding team were attacked by a leopard at a game farm near Polokwane on Sunday morning, paramedics said.

A foreign trophy hunter had shot and injured a leopard late on Saturday afternoon, and a tracking party set out to find the animal, said ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser.

Instead, the injured leopard stalked and attacked the group, at 09:00 on Sunday.

The leopard darted for the trophy hunter, but the male guide, believed to be in his mid thirties, stepped in front of his client.

The leopard mauled the man's left shoulder, arm, and abdomen, while his wife received multiple lacerations to her arm.

The couple were airlifted to the Polokwane provincial hospital, but were later transferred to MediClinic Limpopo for further treatment.

Hi Jerome,

Yes, sounds like the same incident. The Afrikaans papers mentioned Hunters-Rock Safaris. It sounds as though there were some brave people involved here..
I thought some of the operators from that area would know a bit more and at least if everybody is ok and doing better..

Wishing the couple a quick recovery. If anyone hears anything, let us know.

Hunters-Rock is World Class

Our prayers are quick recovery to all...

I had the opportunity to hunt with Elmarrie Minnar and her excellent tracker Bosmon in 2009. We emailed recently to see how her and her fiance are recovering. They are both well and have some scars to show for it, but are back in business. She assured us that in no way were the clients at risk and this is a definatly a rare event when things went wrong. Hunters-Rock and Elmarrie are truly world-class in terms of quality of game and hospitality. I would put my trust fullheartedly into Elmarrie for my safety and the success of any dangerous game hunt in Africa. Frankly, I would hunt every year with Hunters-Rock if I could!

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.
