Pioneers In Laser Rangefinding

All of Leica’s rangefinding products are based on the same reliable technology. This means precise, dependable and safe distance determination simply with the press of a button.

In addition, the ballistics programmes calculate all parameters for a safe and ethical shot. Our rangefinders also represent a perfect viewing experience. They incorporate only the finest components and offer uncompromising optical performance. They are robust and compact and allow simple and precise handling in all situations.

Pioneering Technology
Cutting-edge laser distance determination

Leica rangefinders represent more than 20 years’ experience in civil laser distance determination, perfection in the integration of electronics, technology and optics, as well as constant innovation.

RANGEFINDER-1-TRAILBLAZING-TECHNOLOGY_teaser-960x640.png

Time and again, Leica has set milestones in distance determination.
As long ago as 1992, Leica introduced the first Geovid – derived from the Vector military rangefinder.

Ten years later, Leica presented the first compact rangefinder - the LRF 800 – and, in 2004, the second generation Geovid was launched. For the first time, a rangefinder looked like real binoculars. This wasn’t a derivative of a military device, but an independent development created especially for the sports market. Due to its extremely robust construction, its reliability and compact form, it is still in use and on the market today. Since 2005 technicians have worked on optimizing the Geovid – with increased range, an integrated ballistic system, and general efficiency improvements.

Tough And Good-Looking
More than meets the eye

Apart from excellent materials and perfect workmanship, it is the rugged construction that makes the Leica rangefinder extremely reliable and robust. The same goes for its inner qualities, which may not be obvious at first glance.

RANGEFINDER-2-TOUGH-AND-GOOD-LOOKING_teaser-960x640.png

Leica combines outstanding optics with perfect handling. Its products are extremely robust and dependable and also lightweight. For its Geovid models Leica, only uses high-density aluminium and magnesium alloys, and carbon-fiber reinforced materials for the CRF-models.

For maximum reliability, all glass, metal and electronic components exclusively come from brand suppliers. In order to meet its own high quality standards, all Leica products are subject to the strictest controls and are tested in long-term endurance tests. A focusing dial, for example, runs through tens of thousands of cycles at different temperatures in the lab before it is approved. The sealing of the electronic and optical components with special sealants is also tested in the lab. Only rangefinders that are 100 percent water and gas proof meet Leica’s strict requirements.

Great Performance In The Hours Approaching Darkness
Clear view, even in unfavorable light

The patented optical design of all rangefinders guarantees outstanding contrast and maximum light transmission. The result is stunning image quality, even in unfavorable light conditions.

With the term “Leica DNA”, Leica means the high quality requirements that all Leica products meet: minimized stray-light, optimum contrast, perfect color fidelity, outstanding performance data, and high light transmission. Leica rangefinder products impress with optical excellence and allow the best vision and unique detail resolution, even in poor light. This is made possible by Leica’s specially developed and patented optical designs. The most recent pioneering innovation was the Perger-Porro prism, which is incorporated in the Geovid series.

Thanks to its sensitive automatic brightness control, as well as optimized ambient light suppression, the Geovid’s brilliant LED-display is bright and easily legible, without any dazzle or glare. That way the user’s eyes, which have already adjusted to darkness, aren’t irritated. On top of that, Leica exclusively works with class 1 lasers, which guarantee absolute safety for the eyes.

All Leica rangefinders represent exceptionally reliable performance measurement, whatever the conditions. Measurement time is only 0.3 seconds, and the rangefinders offer high detection rates even at long distances. They only have one operation mode, so that in case of changes in atmospheric conditions or targets, there is no need for readjustment. The ballistic functions are absolutely reliable and have been tested repeatedly. In order to achieve even more precise ballistic output values, the new Geovid models HD-B and HD-R feature inclinometers and precise pressure sensors, and, due to their measured data they guarantee more safety and therefore increase your chances of successful hunting in every situation.

You can look forward to fascinating moments. The Perger-Porro prism system in combination with exotic types of glass provides extremely bright and colour-neutral images with unique plasticity. The wide field of view grants precise scanning of larger areas. The excellent ambient light suppression, resulting from a sophisticated and elaborate system of baffles and light traps, enables uniquely sharp and high-contrast images.

Weather-Proof
Safe and comfortable under any condition

The compact construction of all Geovid models is completely waterproof and nitrogen filled, guaranteeing comfortable viewing under any weather condition by preventing fogging from inside.

RANGEFINDER-GEOVID-3-WEATHERPROOF_teaser-960x640.png

Almost all Leica Rangefinders have a water and dirt repellent AquaDura® coating, granting clear vision even in bad weather. The high abrasion resistance protects the valuable optics even more effectively from damage. In addition, the light magnesium body is extremely shock-resistant, and the protective shock-absorbing rubber armouring ensures a comfortable and secure grip.

Leica Geovid HD-B 42 Edition 2200
Leica-Geovid-HD-B-42-und-HD-B-56-Landscape_teaser-960x640.png

The overall concept of the new Geovid HD-B 42 Edition 2200 brings about a revolution in rangefinding. Unique to these rangefinding binoculars is the supreme optical performance of their patented Perger Porro prism system, the optimised ergonomics of their bridge construction, and the additional integration of an extremely high-performance laser rangefinder with a multifunction ballistic computer. The Geovid HD-B 42 Edition 2200 accesses an internal database with ballistic curves for practically all standard ammunition. In addition, users can upload their own specific parameters for hand-loaded or special ammunition from a microSD memory card.

The newly developed ABC® (Advanced Ballistic Compensation) allows hunters to determine the point of aim more easily especially when shooting longer distances. The precise parameters needed for a particular reticle or click adjustment are available in a split second. And all this taking the ammunition specifics, angle, temperature and barometric pressure into account.

The Leica Ballistics programme
The Leica ballistics programme performs calculations for the Geovid HD-B (including download of data), the ballistic reticles of the Leica riflescopes as well as the rapid reticle adjustment (BDC) of the Leica riflescopes.

This allows the calculation of the target range for almost any kind of ammunition, taking into account many parameters relevant for hunting, such as sighting-in distance, the height of the sight line, temperature and height. For Leica riflescopes with ballistic reticle or rapid reticle adjustment (BDC) you can calculate and print tables for distance as well as click value. In addition, you can calculate individual ammunition loads for the programming of the Geovid HD-B and download the data on a microSD-card.

ABC®- Function 1
With the Geovid HD-B's ABC® system, precise distance determination for the point of impact is easier, safer and more accurate then ever before. The binoculars simply display the distance to the target as well as the correction (centimetres or inches) and the required deviation at point blank range.

LEICA-GEOVID-HD-B-FUNCTION-1_teaser-960x640.png

ABC®- Function 2
The point of impact can also be corrected with the Bullet Drop Compensator (BDC). It also displays the number of clicks required to adjust the reticle. Display formats are: 1 MOA, 1/3 MOA, 1/4 MOA, 10 mm/100 m, 5 mm/100 m.

LEICA-GEOVID-HD-B-FUNCTION-2_teaser-960x640.png

ABC®- Function 3
When using a ballistic reticle, fast and safe distance determination is vital for a precise shot. The ABC®- system calculates results for three different correction formats. Thus discerning users are ready for any hunting situation. Whichever you choose, temperature, air pressure and angle of inclination are automatically considered in the calculation.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
