Learning to shoot can be FUN...!

Spike, I think the rifle is a .700 NE 'Tyrannosaur' or something of similar name! Built by H&H I believe!

hi ole bally, i had a look around and its the .577 tyrannosaur calibre, the rifle an a -square hannibal. it fires a 750grn bullet at 2450 ft/s, giving 10,180 ft lbs !!! i remember at reno a few years ago i was with paul roberts on his stand, and an american guide(said he also operated in sa) came up with a beautiful .505 gibbs he had bought from paul the year before, and asked him to sell it for him as he wanted something bigger and had ordered a .577 tyrannosaur instead, i didnt have a clue what he was talking about. neither paul or myself could work out what he was taking people out to hunt needing such a weapon

Spike, year ago, there was a legend /story going around that in some very remote swampy area of the DRC, ( some parts of it are still unexplored!!) there was / is a huge critter (dinosaur) that is capable of killing and eating all and any of the forest animals including the elephant! The Tyrannosaur rifle was built to hunt that thing!
Heck maybe this guys taken it seriously!!! :) Good luck with getting it back down for the second shot though. It does position you excellently for a quick exit of all else fails!!:bolt:

The way they were holding it you would have thought it was a 22 caliber.

don't you think that at some point in the exercise

and probably somewhere between a 505 Gibbs and this 577 Tyrannosaur

where an RPG-7 becomes a practical option

I mean, if something needs killin' that bad, why limit yourself

just get on with it

I'm just sayin'

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
