Krieghoff Bergstutzen?

Do anyone have a Krieghoff Bergstutzen?
It would be interesting to know how they perform.
What precision can I expect?
Bought one today on internet and should get it sent to my local
gundealer,but I don't really know what I bought.
It was made in 1968.

Kersten = double Greener, so it is a Greener ...
The Problem with this Bergstutzen is to find the ammunation, which for the Barrels were regulated.
The newer Krieghoffs have the possibility to bring the 2 barrels together, if you change the ammunation.
On your pictures I can see ammunation of Sellier&Bellot, Krieghoff never took these for regulation, they took
RWS or DWM (german Labels). Try to find a good gunsmith, who is able to regulate the barrels with the ammunation
you like best .....
Precision of the Krieghoff barrels is outstanding, but the gun is old and you don´t know about the behavior of the owners before.

I can't tell what caliber it is, but if it is relatively common, grab a box of everything you can find and see if you get lucky. Odds are you won't Then see if one of those loads gives you really good accuracy regardless of where the barrels regulate w/r to each other. If that works, then you have the option of sending it to someone like JJ Perodeau http://jjperodeau.com/ who could regulate the barrels to that particular load. He is the ONLY person in this country I would trust that sort of work to. It is not cheap. If you are a hand loader, you can spend the better part of the fall trying to work up a load that will regulate. You could also send the rifle to someone like Lance Hendershot https://hendershots.net/author/lance-hendershot/ who can work up a load which will regulate. If the rifle is in good shape, he has an excellent track record in developing loads. He has done several for me.

Since I wrote this I have found out that the modell is Alp or Alb.
The caliber is 7x65r in the under barrel and 222rem in top.
The 222 barrel is adjustable with two insex screws.
With Sellier&Bellot 173gr it shoots 3" to left and with 222 in same brand
1" low. I think that is ok as a first try.
Bought realoading tools yesterday for 7x65r and shoult try with 150gr bullets and se
what happens. Should also try Norma 50 gr i 222.
I have reloaded for that caliber in an Chapuis double before and that worked well
so I hope to find loads that shoots in the same place.
One odd thing is that it have two test stamps from different years 67 and 68.
Both krieghoff. Maybe it was a DR that was changed to Bergstutzen the year after.

If they are on the barrels, they were simply proofed separately before the actual rifle was built.

This sounds easy. I would sight the rifle in on whatever 7mm loading works best and adjust the .222 to the 7x57.

I have adjusted the 222 barrel near to the 7x65R:

15 mm cc in 100meter is not so bad.
Had someside wind.
I also done some minor stock work:

I'm now looking for new rings for the swingmount so I
can use a smaller scope like 1-4 or 2-7 Leupold to use for roedear hunting with dogs.

Learned that the model is ALP-S.
Do anyone know if these krieghoffs with a single cross bolts
were made with doublerifle barrels?
Or were they only made as combi and shotguns?
Would be nice to get a 2x 7 or 8x57IRS to fit the rifle.

Very interested to hear how this rifle worked out for you. I am toying with the idea to buy one(9.3 x 74R/6.5 x 57R) or get an O/U with two sets of barrels(9.3 x 74R and 7 x 65R)

I have shot some beavers,foxes and badgers with the 222 barrel and some roe bucks and a wildboar with
the 7mm barrel. Use 50gr V-Max in the 222 barrel.Thay are very effective om beavers and small predators.
In the 7mm I use 150gr Sierra gameking.
In Africa I guess 9,3x74R would be perfect for planesgame and 6,5or 7x57R to be good for the smaller critters
when you don't want to "fire for the crows"

This is an older Krieghoff and I was wondering if it had the same adjustment option on the front of the barrels(or any other form of adjustment) as the new model?

The new model I am told that the barrels are fully adjustable in order to "regulate" the two different calibers to impact where the shooters wants.

This feature would allow for adjusting the 9.3x74R barrel to zero at 100 and the 6.5 x 57R barrel to be 2 inches high as an example.

This would make for a very versatile rifle for a mixed bag hunt!!

The price is high but idea of hunting with such a rifle is just very interesting and could make for a very good one rifle rig for Africa! Never seen one used here though!

Mine have adjustable 222 barrel.
If you reload you can adjust the loads so they shoot where you want it,
but it will be allot of testing. And time, because you have to wait about 15 minutes between the shots.
On fun thing is that with 140gr bullets it shoots one decimeter left and with 160gr one decimeter right,
but the same height.
The price was less than an used Blaser R93!
But much more fun!
