Hunting reports
Africa

Hi , fellows from AH.
As an amateur knifemaker I had promis to my self if any time I came to Africa would carry my own knife. I'd never been a good knife maker (no patience for finishing details) but my creations were always usefull, solid and correctly hardened. Well, the times have passed and I stopped to make knives. Some healthy problems, no time for hobbies and no space in my new home. But with a lot of planning I got the opportunity to hunt in Africa. It was my dream and I need run fast to make MY knife to Africa.
I had some ideas about the design. I d'ont like smalls pieces. I 'm used with tropical jungle were the versatility of the machete is the king. But a machete isn't too good to stick , if necessary.
So I decided for a big knife, but all the others ideas weren't clear. I designed a prototype and began to do it.
I took an old plow disk, cuted and put in the forge.

It isn't beautiful but very good, maybe a little bit heavy. And this prototype became the official knife because I could never do another knive again. And I just could did this with a help of my friend Junior, a true blacksmith.
I hope you like.

good job.

I think you did a fine job sir. When are you going to Africa?

I don't think it looks bad at all, I like it. It is a big sucker though and I'm not sure what you plan on using it for in Africa.
Neither do I. But I never go to the bush without carry a knife and lighter or matches. Even if I just walk 10 meters in my little farm. You always need to break a tree branch, cut a wire or even kill a rattlesnake.
The lighter is not for fire only. But here we have a lot of kind of thicks. Some of it are incredibly small and you can't pinch but you can burn.

The little is my wife's knife. The other is a damascus.

Great looking working knife. Best of luck for your safari.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.
