I have 3 knives for sale. Two were extras I made when doing batch work and the third one the customer had financial reasons for withdrawing from the buy.
The Hunter Skinner with stabilised curly Macrocarpa over curve backed buff horn bolsters on the raindrop stainless damascus blade in tooled sheath
Was US$340 - sale US$300 plus shipping

The Pocket Ranger has Cherry wood over buff horn on the 1095 HC blade in cross draw sheath.
Was US$240 - sale price US$200 plus shipping

An Acacia handled Skinner on the 1084 HC blade
Normally priced at US$170 - sale price US$150 plus shipping

Beautiful knives! I’d be afraid of losing one while field dressing an elk, deer or pronghorn in the snow here in Colorado! I’ve lost a knife before in the snow and dark!

AND fluorescent orange handle, like my Cutco skinning knife! I haven’t lost that one YET! Ha! Ha! Ha! But, the Acacia handled skinner would be hard to beat! It just looks designed so well for the tedious work of skinning.

I have blaze orrange micarta for handles (other colours as well as a number of liner colours) and can add a lanyard tube. The skinner is a design that has grown from dissatisfaction with available off the shelf (green river) skinners in the 60's and gradually updated over the years as experience bought improvments till I came to this as the best design some years back having a large number of animals as test subjects.

Von Gruff’s knife designs are excellent from what I can see in the photos. I would like to hear from you and others here how they perform in the field? I’ve used my lesser quality knives field dressing and skinning deer, pronghorn and elk with mixed results. I don’t like buying anything (mostly) without somebody’s personal use and critique of the item. I’m just a cynical bastard! Thanks!

Having probably spent at least one of my boys college tuition on knives, custom and not, you won’t go wrong with one of Garry’s blades! I used my buffalo skinner on an axis a couple months ago and could have done several more without touching the blade with a stone. Buy with confidence from this man!

Thank you! I’ve always had to sharpen my lesser quality knives while skinning. At least on an elk. After reading everything here on AH, now I’m wondering what it would be like field dressing a Cape Buffalo? Probably as much FUN as being charged by one! Ha! Ha! Ha! I’ve done ONE elk by myself. A real BITCH! Fun never stops! I will consider buying one of Von Gruff’s skinning knives! Thanks!
