Almost 40 years ago I read a copy of this book that our University had in it's collection. It made a strong impression on me as it contains some pretty amazing stuff. But it did have my BS sensors on high alert. A copy recently came to me from a friend who picked one up at a garage sale, and before I spend time on re-reading it, I was wondering whether Lake is a known quantity in African hunting circles, and what is thought of him. The book does have a bit of a debunker's sentiment to it, as I recall, which can leave a bad taste in the mouths of people who may feel it is them he is debunking. Though to some extent every book sets out to tell the "real" story. But leaving that aside, what is the reputation of the book, or the man?

Lake wrote a second book, though I have not read it. I think it is called Hunter's Choice, or something of that sort.

Africa literature not to be taken seriously for me.
But the baboon story is good-true or not.
