Ordinance of the Imperial Governor of Cameroon concerning the hunting of elephants and hippos.
§ 1
Anyone who hunts elephants or hippos commercially or has them hunted commercially must first obtain a permit (§ 2).
The same applies to persons who are in the protectorate without being in the service of the protectorate or the German Empire or to a company, a commercial organization, or mission located in the protectorate, if they wish to hunt such game.
§ 2
The permit is issued by the Imperial Government for a specific period of time to be specified within the same period.
The fee to be paid for this is:
In the case of § 1/1, 2,000–5,000 Marks
In the case of § 1/2, 200–5,000 Marks
§ 3
Violations of § 1/1 are punishable by a fine of 1,000–5,000 Marks, and violations of § 1/2 are punishable by a fine of 100–5,000 Marks.
In addition to the fine, the unpaid fee (§ 2) must be subsequently collected from the convicted person. In addition to the penalty, the confiscation of the rifle carried by the offender during the unauthorized hunt may also be imposed.
§ 4
An uncollectible fine shall be converted into imprisonment for up to three months.
§ 5
The Governor reserves the right to issue permits free of charge to researchers to whom § 1/2 applies.

This decree shall enter into force on January 1, 1893, for the Cameroon Protectorate.
