Hello Sir,I know a number of hotels accept guns in Johannesburg. With the higher end hotels do they accept?
Thank you
+1 on Africa Sky. They are extremely helpful, and about 10 minutes from the airport. It reminded me of a small resort.African Sky will store your rifles in a vault. It’s a very nice place. They offer airport pickup and great meals onsite.
Drove all over SA last year, stayed at hotels, B&B, African Sky, even 4 nights in Kruger had guns with me in room, locked in car trunk or with SA Park locks when in parks. Never a problem, this was all OK'd with SAPs as my firearm import permit was for 2+ months even though hunt was 21 days. No issues anywhere. Being Canadian I did have trigger locks and guns locked in airline approved case and kept out of sight always.
On the other side, when planning this trip I was up front with places and stated we were travelling with guns, 2 places, one in Gansbaai and one in Cape Town both replied in email that we were not welcome, find other accommodations. They were anti hunting. A shock for us being its SA.

Maybe you have had some first hand bad SA experience to base your opinion? Maybe you have encountered first hand the crime you state about? Personally had your car broken into? We heard this all the time from media, and few on here, but never experienced anything of the sort. Was the same as people saying how dangerous it was to travel alone, we found that to also be BS. Never once did my sisters or I feel unsafe. Did same in Zim and Namibia some time ago, no issue.I would never travel through South Africa with a firearm inside a vehicle unless I could leave a person with the vehicle at all times when I wasn't with it. There is just way too much crime going on even if your rifle cases are out of sight. The crook will see your luggage and figure that he will get something out of it and then find your firearms and he'll be gone.
Yeah you get those everywhere it seems. some Cape people tend to be of the same cloth as some people from California...On the other side, when planning this trip I was up front with places and stated we were travelling with guns, 2 places, one in Gansbaai and one in Cape Town both replied in email that we were not welcome, find other accommodations.
