Welcome aboard GDP5464. Please tell us a little more about yourself as a hunter. Things like what have you hunted in the past, what kind and caliber rifles you own, do you reload. Where do you live? Do you normally hunt your own or family property?
Thanks for asking
@Shootist43, I currently live in Pretoria but travel a lot to Limpopo. After 24 years in my own business I have decided to follow my passion which is hunting, qualified as n PH and currently busy with my last days for my big 5 restrictions to be removed. Currently hunting with a well known outfitter here in SA and Mozambique as the oldest apprentice ever.....
I have several rifles, Steyr Manlichter 30-06, 338 Lapua in the SAKO 85 range, Silver Pigeon 12 gauge and just for playing a SIG Sauer AR15, I am in process of licencing the Sako 85, 416 Rigby as well as the Merkel 450-400.
I have hunted on Wilton Valley for the past 7 years with local clients and do 3-4 hunts a year with my family and friends. Mostly hunted plains game ourselves but have been accompanying hunts on several big 5 hunts. I have read a thread of someone on the forum hunting elephant this year, I will see you on that hunt sir
.
I have secured two concessions in Limpopo, one for plains game, this area will be for the first timer introduction into Africa hunting, as well as the hunter that would want to bring his entire family. The other for buffalo and other BG, totalling approx 56000 acres
I am not good with the reloading as time is a bit restricted, but have a good friend of mine that does ballistic load development and he does all the reloading for me.
I have been following AH for quite some time to see all the good, bad, and the ugly around our industry, to eventually setup the perfect one stop shop in South Africa. I am hoping to, if all goes well have a new Outfitter registered in SA in the coming years.
Great to be part of the forum and avid reader of all the threads.
Regards.
