I was wondering if you guys could please help me on this forum

I’m thinking of selling my 2 guns which I inherited from my grandfather, but I don’t know much about them or what they are worth.

Both guns are over 60 years old and both guns have licences and are registered with the SAPS.

1x BRNO zbrojovka 7.9 rifle with Bushnell scope and original ammo

1x Webley Scott double barrel shotgun in original box.

could anyone advise me on more information about the guns and what they are worth or what they are valued at.

It would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Ryan.

The shotgun isn’t a Webley. It’s made in Belgium.

both appear to be wonderful firearms... if I were in SA, I'd definitely be interested in buying them from you... I am sure you will have no problem with a sale if they are priced correctly..

I can't believe you would want to sell those. That BRNO is wonderful.
Thank you, We don't use them anymore, and my parents want to sell them, I don't live in SA anymore, so helping them out.

Thank you so much, yes they are both beautiful guns, my father and grandfather looked after them, I shot my first impala with the Brno as a kid, but we don't hunt anymore and I live abroad now as well, thanks for the advice, I will research and try to sell at a correct decent price.

I am inclined to agree. It does have British proof marks but I don't think its a Webley made in the UK. It looks to be in a 'continental' style. You almost never see sling points on British shotguns, and Webley would be engraved on the action or the rib. Possibly retailed by them? Does not mean its not a good shooter.

Interesting, what makes you think it's from Belgium ?? It comes in the original box, and the box says, Webley. thanks.
The proof marks on the shotgun barrel flats are Belgian, not British. The box is Webley. The shotgun isn't. It's a Belgian guild gun built on a pre World War II FN (Fabrique Nationale) action.

The proof marks are Belgian (Post 1924 and Pre 1969). Not British. But you're right. It does appear to be a good shooter. But it's definitely neither a British shotgun, nor a Webley.

Thanks for the info Shako, I did find some more pictures attached, with another serial WR 106216 engraved, interesting information, you know your guns, I have emailed Webley directly to see what they say, I will pay a small fee, will be interesting to see what they say in there records.

Thanks for the info Habib, you and Shako know your guns :-) anyway its a shotgun to me, my dad got it from my grandfather and looked after it, it has been in the safe for years, I have emailed Webley directly and will pay a small fee to see what their records say, its always been in that box, maybe my grandfather was sold something else back in those days and didnt even know lol.

Very nice guns and with family history - would be pity to sell them.
My two cents to shotgun marks: I have been told that many european gunsmiths used to buy barrels from Belgium (that is the reason of belgium proof marks) and then assembled them into their rifles (stocks, breach, etc.). So the most important would be other marks/signatures/brands on the gun to find out its origin.
I have similar old austrian shotgun with belgian barrels.
Make good use of the guns :)

WR number was added in South Africa to firearms that had duplicate or non existing serial numbers.
"Weapon Register"
The proof marks on the picture with the WR number are all Belgian, the Perron, Liege, and ramapant lion.
The BRNO looks to be a 1950 model 21 in 8x57 , a lovely old rifle and a potent caliber.
I may have a friend would would be interested in it; send me what you want for it and we can talk.
I had the same rifle in 6.5x57 that I gave to another friend, horrible trigger but fine rifle.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
