I had that as well as "Eyelids of Morning", that was a good book as well.

I remember him in the 70s and early 80s, he and his work was in the news often as he was married to Cheryl Tiegs.

I would imagine that surviving an elephant stepping on you would make for careful living afterwards.

One has to admire those rare men who unashamedly lived life by their own standards - unapologetically beholding to none other. “End of the Game” is superb.

He was quite an interesting man. Went to Yale. Lived for a while on property adjacent to Karen Blixen's coffee farm in the Ngong Hills of Kenya. I think he knew her (I seem to remember a photo of the two of them together). His wildlife photography in Africa, particularly of elephants as depicted in End of the Game helped draw attention to wildlife conservation. His work was exhibited in art galleries. And he was married to Cheryl Tiegs for a while. He knew and collaborated with quite a few artists such as Andy Warhol. One of those men who could have been "the Most Interesting Man in the World" guys in the Dos XX commercial.

We, the friends of the OLD Africa owe him a lot.
As a teenager he read Tanja Blixen's "Out of Africa".
He couldn't stop reading this book,was infected by that and shortly before her death (1962), he visited her in Denmark and from then on, he was obsessed with a new task in life:
To bear witness to Karen Blixen's Africa.
"End of the Game" is a unique document for all those who cherish African dreams.
