I have not been on this site very long, long enough though to buy a beautiful rifle off of rookhawk. I enjoy reading the forums both new and old. It really bugs me to see all the spam that gets posted in Chinese characters and the like. I do frequent this site alot as ive set it as my internet home page on my phone. If the moderators would like help id gladly clean up the scam posts as i see them come up

That would be great!! Africa Hunting please consider this gents offer. Very ugly scar seeing the bs spam posts

I think it would be a big job.

I hate the spam too, makes me wonder what they are trying to to achieve

I’d be happy to help out as well.

I suspect it would be beneficial to have a few folks with spam deletion rights, who are located in different time zones around the globe.

Might help spam get dealt with quickly and could spread the load for the current moderators - who are doing a great job

Im in PA. EST

Most of the spam seems to pop up around 8pm my time.

I'm a moderator on another outdoor site. We have a number of moderators and it seams that no matter how many moderators that we have there is still 10-20 spam post when I first log in early in the morning.

Today along I got rid of 16 spammers. It is a never ending process. On here I just hover over the spam post and then click ignore in the box that comes up, then refresh the screen and I don't see the spammer anymore. Once a week I'll go into my user IP and remove the ignore spammers since they have now been banned.

The hyperlinks provided in those are almost universally what we call "watering holes."

We're all hunters here, do the calculus on what we do at watering holes. ;)

The irony is so thick you'd need a really sharp boning knife to get through it.

I would love additional moderators to be added to try and tame the incessant spam. It is truly the only downside in this wonderful website.

Unfortunately for most BBS software, this is purely a whack-a-mole exercise.

Never opened one to see a link.
In part because I cant read Chinese and know it can’t lead to anything good but always wondered what would they be posting.
I’m not familiar with IT terminology etc.
in part I guess I thought the spam was just nuisance stuff to interrupt our threads or protest against hunting

I used Google translate once on a Chinese post, it was for China brides looking for a hubby.

Rule number 1 - NEVER click on the hyperlinks, you never know what code is buried under the text. The words are only bait.

You don't need to be a moderator. If you look at the bottom left corner of every post there's the word "Report" in blue. Simply click on that and fillout the resultant dialogue box and it'll flag the post for the moderators attention. They can then delete it. If AH were to make everyone a moderator, he'd quickly lose control of the site.

We sit at watering holes, waiting for animals to show up so we can shoot them.

A watering hole in IT terminology is the same, minus the guns. The bad guys compromise some web server some where, then put malware at the location the hyperlink will lead you to. The actual owner of the web site is always blissfully unaware that some bad guy is using his web server to do bad things.

I got the water hole reference but I get frustrated with my smart phone.
My son in law is in IT and sought after but he dumbs it down for me.
He writes code and I might refer to him as a nerd but the Little Princess is happy so grumpy is happy.
She has landed on her feet. He’s a good guy and smart.

At the risk of jinxing myself I’m not seeing any spam. I’m running a VPN. Could it be that simple?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
