Why can't country hunting updates be done on an annual basis? Given changing hunting policies, and the fluid political unrest across the continent, it would be great if PHs could provide actual updates regarding the realities on the ground. There are hundreds of safari companies in every country on the continent that allows hunting and they know exactly what is truthful and what is not. Their livelihoods depend on their hunts and prospective hunters shouldn't be dissuaded based on very generalized one-over-the-country reports.

How would you go about verifying the information? Outfitters have incentives to present the area they operate in a positive light. Competition also creates an incentive to highlight problems in other areas. I get a lot of good information but also see a lot of misinformation on this forum. I don’t think anything replaces a network of PHs and experienced hunters you can verify information with.

That's exactly what I was getting at. (y) Wouldn't be great if the PHs give good factual reports to ease any apprehensions from possible clients if asked?

Unfortunately no PH that wants to keep a job or an outfitter that’s wants to attract clients is going to make negative public updates so a client could easily compare the pros and cons of different areas. It’s a nice dream but isn’t going to happen. I’ve had the negatives significantly downplayed by an outfitter with a great reputation previously. I learned my lesson. You’ll only discover information talking to PHs and past clients privately. The information is usually out there but takes time to identify what the real situation is. There are certain hunts and areas hunters should have some apprehensions about for a variety of reasons.

Everything does not help.

As already written, no professional will put his business in a bad light and a non-professional will not be believed either way. Many clients are so passionate about their upcoming hunt that they are far removed from any reality. Some warnings from different sides are often not taken seriously on the Forum, sometime compared to dangers in their own countries or even ridiculed.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
Behind the scenes of taking that perfect picture.....

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris
