Hunted
England, Scotland, Wales, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Germany, USA (Wyoming) and Hungary.
I’ve just returned from a successful 3 day trip to Hungary stalking wild boar. We saw or heard wild boar every night, managing to shoot 3 but we were unlucky to not shoot more, though lucky to get 2 young Keilers on the very first evening. The ground, animals, hospitality, food and guides all lived up to expectations and we all agreed we would like to return. The area also holds some very impressive red stags which we saw. The largest they shot last year in the rut had an antler weight of 10.2KG!

We also visited the hunting museum in Budapest, which holds all the record trophy's to ever come out of the country - many donated by members of the royal family over the years.

Congratulations on your hunt.
(I'm going to have to train you to elaborate in these reports more) :)

How high is the cover in the last photo?

I would say good luck but remember you train spaniels, so you may have a chance.

5ft tall - I had 2 pigs within 20m of me for about an hour rustling around. Very frustrating!

That's brutal. No wonder I could only see the heads and necks of those Red's.

Congrats on your hunt, I´ve heard good things about hunting in Hungary !

A friend of mine got a huge fallow deer.

Were they driving game?
No, this was all stalked. Head out to the stands around 3pm and sit out under the full moon till around 9-12pm.

Did you have to wait for them to turn broadside and stand still before you could shoot?

of course! This isn’t the Wild West, we use craft and skill when stalking ;)

I think I'll take the wild west. You come back over here sometime and we'll put that craft and skill to the test.

UKHunter, The half dozen times I've hunted Hogs in the States were all conducted similar to yours. With only a limited number of days at your disposal this method is probably the most productive. I do however agree with Brickburn's comment about fleshing out the details a bit. I came, I saw, I conquered makes for a short report. This site is all about helping the next guy do what you just did and perhaps a little more. For instance, what led you to booking with this Outfitter /guide/location/ hunt? Were you able to use your own firearms, if so, were there any issues getting them cleared into Hungry?

Im afraid I have no interest in writing long reports, so better a short report than none at all. If anyone has questions they are free to contact me and I will help them as best I can. A number of people on this site can testify to me helping them pull off hunts in Europe.

Understood, loud and clear. It is your choice.

@Shootist43 I was teasing a friend about writing more because I know exactly how busy he is. (It does not come through on translation well)

:K Whipping:

My feathers didn't get ruffled I hope UKHunter feels the same.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
