How has Everyone’s Hunting Season at Home been?

WOW!!!! Beautiful buck! Congrats!!!!!

What is it about inclement weather and nice bucks? I shot this guy right before dark on the first Saturday of the season here in PA. It was a misty, drizzly, dreary kind of an evening, but it didn't stop him from chasing does, his ultimate downfall.

This was my 9 point this rifle season. A bit of an unfortunate adventure - I hit him just forward in the shoulder and it flat out floored him but didn't hit vitals. Where he fell would not allow for another shot bc it was so thick. I climbed down from the stand and went after him. He decided to take off running as best he could on 2 1/2 legs. 100 yards of chasing him through the woods and couple hits later and he was finally done.

I scored a Desert Bighorn tag this year and made good! 12 scouting trips (truly), and didn't see a ram until trip #13...and there he was. After seeing him, I was hooked. Sheep hunting is a whole different ball game. I get it.

Anyway, they started popping up and by opening morning, I had seen 36, and a few shooters. Then I saw this guy, one shot, 300 yards. Once in a lifetime. B&C 155 & 5/8. I'm so grateful!

Congrats and well done! Beautiful old warrior. Nothing like the first time you get to lay your hands on those horns. Looks to be an 8 1/2 year old ram? In what state did you “win the lottery”? :)

He's a Nevada bighorn! 7 &1/2 years old. An absolutely magnificant animal! I only had 8 points when I drew the tag, and have to wait 10 years to apply again. Like many states, Nevada has done well with their reintroduction efforts. Conservation at work! Looks like you know a little about sheep hunting yourself...

Congrats!! I love the photos of him at different ages.

I shot this fat doe at 8:00 am with my rmc .50 flintlock rifle at about 35 yards. no tracking needed. the knife I used is a knife made by stuart smith a African knife maker, that I got on one of my African hunts.

I was blessed enough to shoot another beautiful deer this past weekend in South Alabama. This was my first nice buck with the Drilling since I bought it. Also have shot 11 hogs this year so the season is going well to say the least. I feel blessed to be able to spend the time I do in the woods and the rut hasn't even started yet. Good luck to everyone out there I wish you all tight lines and warm barrels.

How come you have house plants growing in the woods?

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
