MY wind tester is again the MK1 EYEBALL.
If grass gently swaying, light breeze
Grass moving a bit more stronger breeze and a bit of hold off.
Grass laying over, to windy go back to camp, light fire and lock guns away. Break out the Bundy and have a drink and yarn up and a meal
Go to bed start again tomorrow.
Don't need any of that expensive stuff for the ranges I shoot.

I always wanted a Remington Sendero .300wm when reading about them as a teenager. It somehow appealed to me and still would.

I have heard the Sendero was available in .25-06 and that would be ideal for some long range pest work I think.

If you’ve shot enough at distance, you would know how to read mirage and sort it for a more precise shot. Of course you would also know that the air at the target is not the actual air the bullet is flying through and/or influencing the bullets trajectory. It’s the air movement in the middle that your bullet is flying through that your focus should consider. So, at practice shooting 1,000 to 2,000 yards, you would need the right equipment to make consistent and accurate shots. Or you could just lob bullets for a while until you get lucky… Some people do that hunting too.

Again, I’m not doing this with my 375 H&H… Or my 450 Dakota.

Everything is known, otherwise I would not comment on the topic. I practiced primarily with the cartridge 338 Lapua Magnum and a suitable rifle for this purpose.

You can't go past a fast 25 for long range pest work. A nice 100gn Speer spbt at 3,400 fps out of a 25-06 reaches way out and if flat shooting
My 25 with the same projectiles @3,600fps shoots flatter than a shit carters hat. With a 2" high at 100 it zeros at just over 300 and is less than 8" low at 400. At that range it is still hitting harder than the 243 at 200 yards

The .243 aside. U hater, I reckon the .25-06 would be a great round.
I think in a heavy platform etc it would be great out West.

There was a nice Savage Varmit in 25-06 on used guns the other day for 400 bucks. If I didn't already have a nice 25 I would have been all over it like a seagull on a hot chip
