I have been struggling to remember the name of a book I read when I was a boy (probably early to mid 90s). Perhaps someone here might be able to help me. I've been listening to audio books to keep me entertained at work and I was hoping to revisit some of the books I read when I was young.

It was a fantasy book that involved another world that was partially linked to ours. I remember the book had lots of mythical creatures in it that were explained by these strange "love potion" ponds that allowed random creatures to interbreed (this was one of the oddest parts, so it stood out). Plenty of magic, dragons, and general fantasy adventure.

Unfortunately, it's been 30 years since I read the book, and I can't remember much more. I can't seem to ask google the right questions and it keeps pointing towards The Wheel of Time, which I'm almost positive isn't the right series.

Thanks!

I ran in through Grok AI.

Some contenders are:

Chronicles of Narnia (Magicians Nephew)
The Fionavar Tapestry
The Black Cauldron
The Last Unicorn

Matt,
Let me know when you figure it out, when I decide to start doing acid I bet it would be an interesting read. I got plenty of time, no plans on doing any elicit drugs until the democrats are back in office! Can’t beat them, join ‘em! Lol

@matt85 was it one of these titles?

I asked a buddy Jim that has a book store and is book enthusiast

Piers Anthony Xanth series

Piers Anthony's Xanth fantasy series, the Love Spring is a magical pond that acts as a love potion. Anyone who drinks from it falls in love with the next person of the opposite gender they see, and this magical effect is an important plot device in several of the books.

Key details about the Love Spring:

The magical effect: The waters of the spring cause instantaneous, powerful love in the drinker for the first person of the opposite sex they encounter. The love is lustful and all-consuming, regardless of the individuals' circumstances, species, or even age.

Plot catalyst: The love potion's effect has propelled major subplots and conflicts in the series. In The Source of Magic (the second book), protagonist Bink drinks from a Love Spring and is overcome with love for a nymph named Jewel.»

Hope it helps

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
