Hello everyone my name is Zach, I just got my first trip booked for 2025. ill be 22 when I go and could not be more excited. The animals ill be taking are (Kudu, Gemsbuck, Impala, Blesbuck, Springbuck, Warthog, Blue wildebeest.

Ill be going with my Father and 2 uncles, My father and uncle have been before back in 2010, we all very much looking forward to this and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Found this site trying to do research for different types of boots to wear on the hunt and practice targets as well. Just trying to learn as much as possible before hand.

Excited to talk with you all and learn as much as I can.

-Thank you

Hi Zach welcome aboard, you at the right place to get info. If i can suggest looking at a post from Tally-Ho hunting safaris about shooting sticks so you can make or get yourself a pair and practice shooting off them as a start. Enjoy

Welcome Zach. All the best with your adventures. be sure to keep us updated on how the hunt went !

Did you manage to find boots? i can highly recommend redbacks or Salomon's. My boyfriend is a PH and he absolutely loves his redback boots. Wears them almost everyday when he is hunting and he says they are by far the most comfortable. My dad is also a PH, outfitter and landowner, he swears by Salomon's, wears them everyday... and i mean everyday ! I have just bought my first pair of redbacks and before that i wore Johnson boots and they were pretty comfortable.

I remember the excitement and anxiety leading up to my first safari. I shot the exact same list on my first trip + a Cape buffalo that was somewhat unexpected. Four animals were in the salt the first day before noon! Will you be taking your rifle or renting one?

Welcome aboard!

:S Welcome:

Hi Zach. I am going over for my 1st trip in June. Our lists are exactly alike except you have a Springbuck where I have a Honey Badger. And I also have a zebra.
I did my research on boots and went with a pair of Courteney Safaris. Enjoy!

Welcome to AH

All of us who have already been to Africa are very jealous that you get to go for your first time. Nothing can beat seeing Africa for the first time with ones own eyes.

Hope have a great time, and once again welcome glad to have you here with us.

You've found the best forum, no question.

I recommend looking up "The Big Game Hunting Podcast" and search for the Africa episodes. There are some good primers for people preparing for their first hunting safari.
