Handgun to Africa

I would like to try to shoot some plains game out of a hide with a revolver. I was wondering what the laws are for bringing a revolver into SA. Thinking a 44 Mag.

Anyone know the laws or have done this?

Will work fine like with other guns. I think minimum barrel was 4". I have hunted 5 times with revolver. Ammo must be non hollowpoint, I have used heavy lead flatnose bullets. My gun is Ruger vaquero Bisley. 45C 5,5"bbl. Suggesting to train alot with the gun before safari, shoot only from close range when hunting. Train to shoot from tripod support. Every shot must count.. Non hollow point is interesting. Glad to know that might trip a guy up.

I would take a rifle and revolver. Use it for close range situations. I’m really a rifle guy but want to try something a little different.
