Good day all

I am in the market for my first hunting rifle. Basically i am looking at the Howa range due to good reviews and price.

I noticed that there are the Hogue stock models and GRS Berserk models. As a new hunter living in South Africa and will mostly be hunting in the bush, i am wondering if the GRS stock will be a problem?

Any advice and personal experience with this?

Regards

Hi Elton,

It all depends on what type of hunting you will do and what type of species you will hunt. The most encountered rifle in SA is a CZ 550 or ZKK600, they are affordable, rugged, and easy to find/sell. in calibers from 7x57 to 270, 300win mag, 375HH up to 416 Rigby.

A good thing to do before you decide is to go hunting with a fellow hunter's gun to make your own thoughts of what you need.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .

I have quite a bit of 458 win mag brass, most of it new. How much are you looking for?
