Hi there, I am new on the forum, I am from South Africa. I have been a recreational hunter for 20+ years and recently qualified as a PH, currently I am licenced in Limpopo and Northern Cape Provinces in South Africa. I own the following hunting calibers: 458 Lott, 375 H&H, 300 Win Mag, 30-06 Spr, 270 Win, .22 LR and 357 Mag. I also reload for all these calibres, except .22. I enjoy wingshooting as well as rifle hunting, for which I own two 12 GA over-under shotguns and I have a chocolate Labrador gundog/best friend. In addition to hunting I also enjoy fishing, mostly for bass but also rock-and-surf saltwater fishing on South Africa's coastline, and I am also slowly getting into fly fishing. I am looking forward to learning a lot from all the experience and expertise on this forum.

Welcome. From your interests it sounds like we might be related. :D My Lab is black.

If you ever fly fish Alaska it will ruin you. Nothing else is ever good enough. Let me know if you'd like to give it a try. Might interfere with your PH business as July and August is about it for fishing season at the arctic circle. Are you freelancing? My lodge might be looking for someone but they are Eastern Cape.

Hello KTMpilot,

Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

I have hunted the Limpopo area, around Gravelotte and up above in the Highveld as well.
Plenty of game plus, excellent fly fishing for trout as well.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

Thanks Frederik, I am actually a member of BASA for 2 years already, even though I haven't yet done a shoot. I recently fire-formed some 375 H&H brass for my 458, so I have 50 cases now and a load ready to go, so I will be able now to do some practice shooting and then a BASA shoot on one re-loading session, so I hope I will see you in 2024 for sure

G'day from Australia and welcome to AH.

My Lab is my best buddy, all my friends have pointers and spaniels in the field, but my guy is a pet and friend to me too, not just a gundog. At this stage my PH'ing is part-time as I have a day job flying as a pilot, but most of my family lives in the Eastern Cape, so I may probably retire there one day and getting my Eastern Cape PH permit is certainly amongst my plans

Best practical practise you will get and then sort out your gear you will be suprized how many PH pitch up once and never come back as they didn't fare too well but that is why we do it to be ready when the time comes.

Welcome!

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
