Thank you all for the cordial welcome!
I will do my best to contribute stuff that makes sense.
Reg. the questions above:
Fortunately, i live right in the mountains and can go out in the forest whenever it suits me. My main quarry is Red Deer, Chamois, Roebuck - i think it's a great privilege to shoot my own meat for the kitchen.
Weapons: Several "Ferlach" Rifles, of course ;-) from .22 to 7 x 64. Two 30.06 for Red Stag, one of them is a rifle by Antonio Zoli.
I hunted in Namibia near Otjiwarongo and Etosha, shot a very good Kudu, several Oryx and Warthogs.
Hunted Russia several times, mainly in the north for black grouse, caipercaille, Wolf, Roebuck.
Also in the Altai Mountains of Western Siberia, where the borders of Kasachstan, China and Mongolia meet. Only access by horseback on very small and steep mountain paths. Took us 4 days to get to the hunting grounds. But it was worth the effort - unspoiled wilderness, no one there except us hunters. We hunted Maral, Bear, Roebuck, Ibex - a game paradise. We also found signs of Argali and snow leopard, but not the animals themself. Very beautiful country.
In 2007 i've also been to Mongolia for Ibex and Roebuck - it was a marvellous land, right from a fairy tale. I hunted the Altai Mountains in the west and the forested Taiga in the north. Slept in yurts and right in the open.
Africa is always on my mind. I'm thinking about cape buffalo for years, fortunately this is the right forum!
