A Karl Gustav 6.5x55, at a skosh over 1000 yards, original iron sights.

@Shootist43 @Bob Nelson 35Whelen - you gents should like this video, and Bob, I am wondering if these might not be neighbors of yours.

Impressive

Who cares about the bottle. I’m not much narrower than the 24” plate. I would hate to bet on him not hitting me.
This dude does some serious long range shooting.

One episode a few years ago, he was firing a Marlin 1895, loaded with Hornady FTX, at a 3' target about a mile away. He came within a whisker of hitting it several times. Holdover and windage adjustments had him shooting at the sky.

At 1 mile with that load. He needs almost 600 feet of holdover, and who knows what kind of voodoo witchcraft he was practicing to judge the wind.

Years ago my dad and I were shooting at fence post out in the middle of a big creek bottom. Probably about one mile. You could see the “Splash” as it was dry and made dust. With my 30-06 I was aiming at trees on top of the hill behind it, must have been 350 feet or more above the post. Dads 223 wouldn’t even get that far. We got pretty close a time or two.

I don't know where it's filled but just goes to show you don't need no manbun with a scope that can see the rings of Saturn to hit a target at 1,000 yards.
Hell even the old timers were shooting 1,000 yard comps with ild rear locking SMLEs with open sights and posting good scores. We just rely on scopes more now days instead of shooting skill.
Bob

Bob, with my 75 y/o eyes it's better said, I rely on my scope for my shooting skill.:ROFLMAO:

you need a large aiming point at thoses ranges with open sights ( if you can even see the water bottle) and when you find the hold, set the smaller target where the bullets land. i would buy the man who can hit a 16 oz water bottle at 1000 yrds with open sights with a first round hit all the beer he could drink in a month. i have seen 20-30 inch wind shift at 1000 yrds between shoots at williamsport pa. 1000yard range.

The newer 84mm version is pretty cool too

Those CG recoilless rifles are awesome! In the armed service I was at one time shooter and teamleader for those. Practicing attacking armor on emerging tank silhouettes we once started a small heather fire shooting fast. Those things are absolutely lethal in both ends;p
I suspect those CG`s are responsible for taking out a lot of Russian lighter armor in Ukraine.

Sgt.Zim, I watched the video a few moments ago. One would have to say that 2 &1/2 MOA at a thousand yards with iron sights "ain't" bad. It doesn't surprise me though. I was happy to see Mark used H-4350 / AR2209 for his loads. Thanks for sharing the video.

P.S. Earlier today I turned my AC on for the first time this year, it was 77 degrees in the house, and I don't like it that hot.:giggle::giggle:
