Yes it is a No4 Enfield with the stripper clip loader bridge removed, almost guaranteed to be in .303 Brit, these have one of the best sporter magazine I have used, I have Santa Fe MKIII mags for use in my Speeders when hunting with them.

We have 100s of No4 & MKIII Parker & Hale sporters here in different grades.

Some No.4s were made in 308 weren’t they? I would still bet on 303.
Yes some but I don't think Golden State did any conversions on them, still a little border line & need more work on ejector and/or special magazine .

I had or might still have one exactly like it, mine is a 303.

Interesting conundrum. My first thought was, for some reason, 45/70. I have seen a couple.
But, most likely 303.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
