Glass for my BRNO .375's

So I have a couple of BRNO 602's in .375.
1 has the funky hogs back stock and a set trigger express sights and no peep
the other has a regular trigger (not very crisp, but it hast seen a smith either) a more standard stock I am used to see, it has a cheek piece and a little monte carlo comb -- express sights here as will and no peep.
both have what to me is a backwards safety --ie forward is safety and back is fire
I want to take at least one of these to Africa with me for a Buff. A buddy suggested I keep one naked (iron sights only) and put some glass on the other one and take them both. Seems like overkill. I dont shoot iron sights hardly at all-- almost everything I have save a 30/30 and my .22s are scoped
Any suggestions?

my first thought was to put an old Diavari Zeiss I have in fixed 4x -- but...not sure now
I like the idea of the illuminated reticle.
Should I remove the sights if I scope it?
I am also going to be hunting some plains game as well.

Based on my limited experience (one PG safari) I would take the one with iron sights and add a low power (1x4 to 1x6) scope with detachable mounts. You would have to test your setup to make sure you can remove and re-attach the scope without losing accuracy. Set the scope on about 2 power and leave it there the entire hunt. Check out the Leupold VXR series. That is what I took and it was fine. I used its illuminated reticle at dusk for jackal hunting but never needed it during the day. But, the real question is if that rifle is reliable and you have shot it off sticks a lot prior to the hunt?

Two rifles? I would take the .375 and the other could be any of the many plains game calibers, perhaps with a higher power scope if you will be hunting in open country. Taking two .375's seems redundant although a backup scope with detachable rings that is sighted in for the .375 is a good idea. You could snap it on and be ready to go if the primary scope goes south on you.

I have a Leupold VX-6 in 1-6x illuminated dot on my MRC 375 H&H. I really like it and it has served me well. It is held with Leupold QR stud type mounts. The return to zero is perfect. My one complaint is that it is slow to remove and my old fingers cannot flip the Tiny Leupold levers.
On my Kimber 375 H&H I went with Weaver style bases and Warne QR mounts. Much easier to remove and they seem to return to zero if you push the scope tightly forward when installing it. The levers are substantially larger and I can flip them with my old fingers.
I have a second scope with QR mounts for each that I take as a backup. It is a VX-6 2-12x. I needed the extra power for a crocodile hunt and it worked well. The 1-6x would work for everything, but the 12x just gave me the ability to see the golf ball size target at 90 yards with more confidence.
So, that’s what I use and what I like and dislike about my choices.

Yeah @Ridgewalker and @Deleted member 43267 have it right. That VX6 is a great scope. I put a VX5 1-5 with illuminated reticle on my CZ550 375HH and really like it.

I really like the Leupold VX6, 1-6x and have one on my .375. My 9.3x62 has a Swaro Z8, 1-8x which is incredible but pricey. I also have a Swaro Z6 1-6x EE on my Lott, a great scope but discontinued. Before going crazy on glass, I had a Leupold VX3, 2.5-8x on my .375. Honestly, it could handle any hunting situation I’ve ever encountered with that scope.

I should have mentioned, check out the eye relief on the Leupold VX3, 1.5-8x. The extra eye relief makes it a very good choice for rifles like this.

Many valid points above, Buy the best glass you can but the new Vx3i are affordable performance with lifetime warranty.

I have a Vx3 1.5-4x20 on a ..458wm, used on pigs for field practice ,soon to acquire a .375.

I also like the idea of the 2-8 Leupold, maybe more versatile and a 32 mm objective is likely to be better in low light. Wat at least if you are running the higher magnifications

I would think the straight stock would be better suited to scopes, try the iron sights just in case you need them if the scope fails in the field,

If the rifle fails abroad then hire from the outfitter.

If you have plenty of money you will have plenty more. options.

You will need to check the local laws about bringing two guns of the same caliber in country.
Some places don't allow it, but there are ways to work around it.
Like having one rifle for you and one for your wife...bingo two rifles in the same caliber.

As to optics I have a Leupold VX3i 1.5-5x20 in Warne QR mounts on my CZ550 in 375H&H.
This is not the illuminated reticle, but has excellent eye relief and is tuff as a tank.
The Warne mounts have proven themselves and return to zero every time.
Not much to go wrong with this set up.

That said, I would not hesitate to Swor, Zeiss, Kahles, or S&B low power scopes with a reticle to your liking.
Mounts from Alaska Arms, Talley and Leupold are very good as well.

I have narrowed it down to the following Leupold Vx-r 2-7 and a Vx3i 2.5-8 and just for a flyer there is a zeiss on the forum for sale a 2-8 duralyt its more by a couple of hundred so def in consideration--

A buddy just called and said Vortex has there Razor HD in 1.5-8 on sale so looking into that-- I have a razor spotting scope but own no other vortex products-- so I am not sure about them

I have 3 - 4.5X27s Razor Gen II HDs. They are tuff scopes for sure. Glass is 85% of German glass.

A 1-8 Trijicon is what I ordered for the 375. The mounts have been the biggest issue. Scope is everything I need it to be with a true 1X.

I bought the leupold 2.5-8x if it turns out not to be the "one" I will use it as a back up and buy something else -- that trigicon looks good-- too many choices-- I went the Leupold because i haven't ever had one let me down -- not as good as my zeiss, but I am not sure in reg light I can tell the difference with my eyes.
