Hello all!

So, with this virus going on my wife and I can see we will need a negative test result no more than 3 days before we depart on our hunting adventures. Fine, no worries, it is what it is. Now though, has anybody had any experiences getting back into the USA? Do you use a mobile test? Are there testing sites we will need to get to in Johannesburg on our way back? Do you take some kind of test with you, then take it when your figuring up your bill on the way back? Just wanted to see what others are doing, and thank you very much!

Your outfitter should have this down by now for getting his clients back on their way home. I’d check first with him on what his procedure has been.

Back in June our outfitter had test administered at the camp and they delivered the test to a local co-op. We had the test at about noon on a Wednesday and had the results at about 10:00 Thursday morning. We flew out on that night. We were in the Northwest province.

As others have said. Your outfitter should have all that arranged. I was there most of June. Outfitter took me to Ampath Lab. Test done and results emailed to him. He printed out what I needed the day we headed for airport.

Agree with this.
The actual details will depend on where you are hunting. In our case, we drove into town 2 days before departure, waited for about an hour to take the test, and the results were emailed to the lodge. We got one result that evening and the other one the following morning. There was no requirement to show COVID test results on domestic flights, only on the flight back to the US.
During our layover at JNB, I did notice a private company conducting PCR testing. They promised results within 24 hours and charged R850.

Our ph in August had the sputum test(s) packs on site. Did them on a Thursday morning, the apprentice went to town and dropped off. Had the results the following morning. Just make sure it's a pcr test
At the airport we seen several people be denied from having non pcr test.

your outfitter should know the drill
if you are just touring or sorting yourself out
just l
google "ampath" or "lancet" laboratories they will sort you out and u get the results within about 24hrs via a link sent on sms
also there are tests being done in the jnb airport which they say results in about 2-3 hrs and it is a pcr test. one of my clients did this and all was good and he went home to usa safe and sound

regards

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
