The year is almost finished, so remember to get your rifle permit documentation ready for the 2018 hunt. There’s no need to be left without a permit, with us you can be locked, loaded and ready for a successful hunting trip in South Africa.

However, we will need the following documentation from you at least 25 days prior to arrival:

  1. Completed and signed SAPS 520 application form, can be downloaded from our website www.riflepermits.com.
  2. Copy of photo page of passport (certified as a true copy).
  3. Copy of complete itinerary as issued by your travel agency or copies of your return airline tickets.
  4. Proof of ownership
    1. Firearm licence/firearm registration form.
    2. For hunters traveling from the USA, the CBP4457 customs form will be sufficient (certified as a true copy). Please note that this form must be dated, signed and stamped by US customs.
  5. Proof of export from country of origin – For hunters traveling from the USA the CBP4457 customs form will be sufficient (certified as true copy).
  6. Invitation letter from hunting outfitter on company letterhead.
  7. Our signed and complete mandate form (downloaded from our website).
For US hunters: You can download the CBP4457 customs form from our website. This is only a blank form, you need to take your rifles to your nearest customs office for the form to be completed, signed and stamped by US customs.

Henry Durrheim from Rifle Permits will also be visiting the SCI Convention in Las Vegas from January 29 to February 4, 2018 (www.showsci.org); any client who attends the convention can contact him regarding their rifle permit documentation.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
