I acquired a quantity of Geco 9.3x62 ammunition loaded with 255-grain soft point bullets. The price was right, so I got it while the getting was good. I’m familiar with Geco ammunition and have had no problems with it in other cartridges; but can find nothing concerning this particular load. Does anyone have experience with it? I expect the bullet is probably suited for deer size game, but not much larger.

In this link toward the bottom of the page there is a ballistics table for this specific round. You’ll have to convert from joules and meters per second. I believe it’s the cheapest x62 ammo I’ve seen. I agree the Teilmantel looks like a very soft bullet. https://www.krale.shop/media/blfa_f...co_Teilmantel_9.3x62_mm_255_grain_EN_-min.pdf
This is from Geco

I used this load for a young buck this past season using my Ruger African rifle. The arteries were clipped off above the heart and the buck dropped at the shot.
Shooting on a bench, I've had my best group for three shots at 1" and 5 shots at 1.5". I plan on using this load further for deer or feral hogs. Price was great at less than $25 a box.

I have recently purchased some of the bullets to reload.

I think these bullets would be fine for deer and boar but something larger might be a challenge.

I intend to use them for practise as I'm hoping to get the Nosler accubond to work for hunting.

Scrummy

I lucked into some Geco 6.5x55 ammo a few years ago on a close out sale as well. 160 gr soft tips, Teil Mantel I believe is what they call it. Very accurate from my CZ550 full stock, almost the best of the factory stuff I've purchased, to be honest. Only shot one White tail doe, but she buckled at the shot and went down hard. Wish I could find some more.....

My CZ 550 loves GECO 9.3X62 PLUS 255 GR.

Gun: CZ 550 medium lux 9.3X62
Temp.: 13 ℃ degree celsius
wind: 2.5m/s
light rain

bullet-GECO 9.3X62 PLUS 255 GR
brass-GECO
powder - Hodgon Varget -61 grain
Primer: CCI 200
COL-3.291``
result: sub moa
Vo= 2539 fps/774 m/s
chronoed with magneto speed.

That is FIRST ever ammo in 255 gr that my rifle shoot sub moa!

I have found the Nosler 250 grain accubonds shoot sub MOA in my CZ550 FS. I scored 500 of the factory seconds of this bullet from Midway USA last year.

The GECO soft point bullets have not the best reputation in Germany. Originally they were designed to be used on shooting ranges. The bullets are quite soft, core and jacket will often separate in the body of the game. They will not perform in a predictable way (as bonded or monolithic bullets do).
But anyhow, they will kill deer size game.

PS: my favorite in 9,3mm / .336" ist the 250grs Nosler Accubond.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
