I am relatively new to the Africa Hunting Forum, I have purchased several non-firearm items from individuals here but this is my first time selling. I purchased this rifle earlier this year after shooting a friend’s Whitworth Safari Classic 375 H&H. I liked it so much I found this rifle and purchased it. Soon after, my friend decided to sell his and I ended up with it. This was my first foray into the “big bores” but I have since added a Ruger RSM.

I have not fired this rifle. I think the wood and metal finish is very good, I have attached many pictures to show the rifle’s condition. If anyone would like additional pictures please let me know and I will provide.

I’ve actually had this rifle in my hands at a recent gun show where I ran into @ThreeJacks. Super nice rifle and different from the other Mark X’s I’ve seen. It was all I could do to leave it with him, but having 3 rifle projects in progress my wallet handcuffed me. Solid rifle and a solid member here. Someone needs to hop on this piece, the price is more than fair.

I had one years ago and foolishly traded it. At the time, early ‘80’s ?, I think I paid about $600 new. It was very accurate with 270gr Hornady’s. Someone is going to get a nice rifle.

A bit different than mine, though only 10K off on the SN, mine being a bit earlier. Lack of the barrel band swivel is unusual though I have seen others like that.
Rear sight has 3 folders instead of one fixed and 2 folders like most early ones.
Should be a good shooter, most are.

Excellent rifle and a great buy. Based upon the four digit code on the side of the receiver just forward of the bolt handle, this rifle was made in October 1985. I have two of these myself; one made three months prior to this rifle, and the other made a month after this rifle.

The rear sight is indeed a bit unusual. Mine both have a fixed 100 meter sight blade. I don't think it makes much difference one way or the other. They can be very accurate rifles. I've gotten 1/2 MOA groups out of mine with Barnes 300 grain TSX's and IMR 4350.
