I am in the first stages of planning for a safari in Namibia 2018. It's been one heck of a year :A Crutches:and the 20 or so months gives me a target and renewed energy :)

I am looking at flights and I saw there is a flight from Frankfurt to Windhoek on Air Namibia. Does anyone have experience with this route from North America? I would fly from Toronto probably. Also, any thoughts on firearm clearance procedures in Frankfurt and the comfort of Air Namibia specifically would be appreciated.

Thanks folks.

:E Cold: (it's sure cold this week in Canada)

Air Namibia is just fine on room and drinks.
They started charging a firearm fee, like everyone else (almost everyone else)

I arrived in the morning, slept instead of the intended stroll in downtown Frankfurt.
Check in for the evening flight and sleep and wake up in Windhoek.
Flight crew were all great.

They have done away with the dreaded permit in Frankfurt so there should be no issues.

There is no baggage agreement from what I recall and you can not drop off guns early.

It's easier, read about it all here:

Just gave it a quick read. Great report btw.

Be sure to compare prices for flighs flying to South Africa and then onto Windhoek as oppose to flying directly from Frankfurt to Windhoek.Last time I checked, it was cheaper flying via South Africa.

Thanks. I will certainly give it a read

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
