Earlier this year there was a big SNAFU re: no longer being allowed just a form 4457 to export/import firearms, and instead one now needed a whole bunch of other govt. bullshit to get firearms to foreign countries for hunting purposes......something along the lines of having to register as a small business, register with the IRS, etc, etc. Supposedly this came about from our brilliant (forgive me, I can't find the "sarcastic" smilie) president in an effort to control illegal firearms dealings from Mexico (never mind that his AG allowed firearms across the border, and one of our border agents was killed with one of those firearms, but he liberal press doesn't seem to give a rat's ass.....and Holder was allowed to get away with it).
I was just curious if the system had gotten any better, if the paper work snafu was fixed, if anyone had any issues coming or leaving the country, etc.
Thanks........................

I'm thinking Lori from Travel Express could answer that question for you

When it came down to it, all that seemed to be needed was the 4457. That is certainly all that was required to get my permit when I entered RSA. On my return back to Phoenix the CBP officer didn't even ask to see either the 4457's or my rifles!

Phil,
You are correct.....

My last understanding of this was that it was a work in progress and when the whole system was in sync these new requirements would be put into place. Supposedly this past July was when it was all going to be up and running and CBP would be requiring hunters to show all the new BS. The guys going now will have a better handle on what actually happened, but I would not expect our illustrious Fed Govt to just say "nevermind".

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
