Morning everyone,

Semi-long time member, first time seller. I’ve just de-mobilized from six years abroad in Germany, and need to empty out the collection acquired abroad to help float my transition, as a job fell through at the last moment (and save for more safari adventures). However, I want to offer to the AH community first before they’re listed elsewhere. As mentioned before, this is my first sale here, and I realize I’m unknown generally, but @SaintPanzer can vouch for me as we taught the Jaeger course in Stuttgart together and @steveingermany was one of my students.

For sale is a Winchester Model 70, manufactured in 1953 (serial #318xxx), in .375 H&H Magnum. The pre-64 make doesn’t need any advertisement. Rifle was acquired by me while in stationed in Germany from a dealer. There’s a pair of tiny German proof marks (looks like the Bavarian flag) denoting import. The stock is certainly original and the bluing looks original, as well. Has aftermarket EAW mounts in what looks like an older variant, plus an aftermarket EAW rear (and likely front) sight. Has a Pachmyer Performance White Line recoil pad installed, but the plastic covering the screws seems to have collapsed (see photos). Rifle is in overall excellent condition, and the photos highlight a couple small nicks and dings. Barrel is crisp and clear. Length of the rifle is 42.5 inches and the barrel is 28.7 inches. LOP is 13 7/8’s.

I don’t think you find these too often anymore, and I am struggling to part with such a rarity, but need the money as I transition out of active duty… house payments are expensive…

$3000 firm with shipping included to your FFL (Alaska + Hawaii at cost). Zelle, Paypal or wire transfer or cash if you’re in vicinity of NW Arkansas (or Tulsa).

More photos available on request. I will be out of town for reserve duty from Friday-Sunday, so I will generally be delayed in responding.

Maybe he included the action in barrel measurement, as overall length is normal at 42.5 and visually looks like a 22" barrel to me. Appears to have done the same thing with the Ruger in his other listing

Looks like it is the Ruger from his other listing

Yup, good catch. That other photo somehow slipped in and I overlooked it.

Barrel length does include action... I'll post the re-measured barrel length on Monday.

Barrel length is just over 21 3/8's. Thanks for the catch, everyone!

Bump - willing to entertain reasonable offers for this gem of a rifle!

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
