I booked a hunt for a PH friend of mine late last year with somebody I have known for some time. The property is 3500ha with some nice species including the rare Cape Mountain Zebra. There is also a healthy population of bontebuck. I had no doubt that they would collect a fine example of a bontebuck. What I wasn't expecting is that they would shoot a record 16 3/8 specimen, ranking nr 3 in Rowland Ward. With this and the feedback that there are more very good quality trophies I could not resist the temptation to collect one myself. This will also be my first for the species and being collector, new specie is always welcome! I am very happy to report that I was successful in hunting the endemic Bontebuck, further more he is a peach for measuring in at 15 5/8 for the longest horn and
with a total score of 43 1/4.

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
