I know burning grass and rejuvenating the countryside is common in many parts of Africa. Sadly This fire seems more like the terrible wildfires Americans and Australians are much too familiar with. Cape town and surrounding areas burdened by drought and the fires that follow drought. Hope for the best for our friends there and the land and animals we all enjoy so much.

As someone who has lived in California and dealt with fires and evacuations all I can say is be safe!

They don’t have wildfires as we know them. Many reasons but it is different. Hope it’s slows down.

Let's see, there is the South African variant of COVID. So this wildfire near Cape Town sure looks like the California variant of wildfire.

Stellenbosch is a beautiful area- "The Napa Valley of South Africa." Went on a wine tasting spree there one day. Very sorry to hear about the devastating fires.

We hate to see any damaging and dangerous fires but its still relatively small. We burn millions of acres in the states in fire season. California alone burned 2.2 million acres last year.
